Yes I did, but the problem is that everything below a Geforce 88xx is too limited to implement complex effects. The only way to go would be CUDA or the ATI streaming system. I hope to receive the SDK soon so I can start to test the new graphics card series out....

Yes, that's what I was thinking having just read through this whole thread, today; might the rumored advances in Direct3D10.1 make anything easier? (One impression I have is that the newer GPUs and their memories are tremendous power sinks; and yet, using them for more widespread applications seems to begin to justify the draw--bravo, perhaps...certainly an interesting and arguably more useful application than games. I hope that you get your SDKs, for a selfish reason, if anything else; but hey, we might have fun with a product of your own enjoyment, and that's what counts.) [For those of us who would like to skip a search: Direct3D 10.1 information (one may also want to read the referenced articles in this information), and proof of development existance...or, if you have PowerPoint (I don't), the original ~5MB presentation.]Nils Schneider wrote:Yes I did, but the problem is that everything below a Geforce 88xx is too limited to implement complex effects. Yes, I'm using the GS+ at the moment, and mine is very quiet, even better than my old FX 5900.
I'll see that I can afford a 8xxx within the next 2-3 months or so to give CUDA together with VST plugins a try.

maybe i had a faulty one. mine produced a high noise.
problem ist, that you cant (could) control the fan.
theres a bios update now.
will the 8800 be so much better for dsp-ing?

Yes, the 8800 provides a totally new architecture for generic computation.

Good Point, but on the other hand by the time these plugins mature, the situation might be quite different.Stevie1 wrote:hmm interessting, but keep in mind that not many audio guys will buy
a 88xx gfx card since most of us are still on AGP due to PCI-express problems.
And if this really makes it easier for Nils, I'm all for it.

Hi again Nils,
Do you have any thoughts on the ATI 2k range of cards as far as what you think it would allow you to do or prevent you from doing?
