I bought some exs samples from sampletekk but directwave can not handle these, the loading just stops and after a whlie there's dll error. Any ideas what to do? It says in the manual that directwave supports the exs format.

I attempted the same. I believe this issue is that Directwave does not save the samples until it has first loaded all of them. You are probably running into a memory consumption issue as the samples from Sampletekk are quite large. It is my belief that the format is not the issue, the amount of RAM available is.

Strange, I have 1,5 Gb of ram and Directwave is the only thing running in FL-studio. I thought that would be more than needed?

i had problems w/ .exs files, try converting to a different format... akai programs seem very stable on directwave in latest version.

Take a look at the size of the sample files. Some of the Sampletekk things are quite large. All of the samples for Old Lady total 3.56 GB. With 1.5 GB of RAM you couldn't load half of the samples. I know the main presets for Old Lady use over 1 GB. In addition, there has to be room for performing the actual conversion.

sampler presets that size should really be used with a sampler that streams from hard disk.

Ok, but these are the prophet and arp samples they seem not so big. The arp folder is around 318 Mb and the prohet 622 Mb. But I don't know how big the presets are, especially the ones that can't be loaded :ud:

Yea, just thought of that, silly me. Wusik does that and so does East/west Boesendorf. But Directwave does not that of course :?:

Are there any free or cheap programs that can do that?

no really cheap or free programs for translation. i use extreme sample converter-but it does not support .exs. the other converter programs out there are much more expensive, i think your best bet would be:

1. ask the company to provide "lighter" versions of the presets/or make your own. directwave is a great sampler so you can use that.
2. buy a new sampler that supports disk streaming
3. buy a different soundset or use the ones that came w/ directwave.

Thanks for all your help. I bought the two sample libraries for 15$ each (it was a groupbuy). One of them is working 100% so the loss is not that big. Still I think it's strange that this happens. The total size of the sample library for the arp-synth is app. 320 Mb compared to my East/West Boesendorfer 290 which is 3.2 Gb. I can easily run 5 instances of Boesendorf (did not bother to add more) with the heaviest presets. At the same time my mail program, Xplorer2, Opera and Tracktion 2 was running. I guess it's the lack of disk streaming that is causing the trouble.

if your running one of the presets and not the other, maybe there is something wrong w/ the file? maybe corrupted or missing/corrupt wav files. also it's probably not a good idea to run internet/virus/any other software than what's needed. it might/might not make a difference.
