Did anybody around here try Acoustic Lagends by Vir2? It's 19 GB of acoustic guitars, including a chord instrument which seems to offer the possibility to create believable strums (to me, the demos sound much better than most other strumming stuff I heard so far). So any first hand user experience would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Hey TQ,

I have this library and I love it. It's very nicely recorded and sampled. With a very impressive line-up of guitars to choose from. Including some cool auxillary "guitars" (banjo, ukelele, mandolin, acoustic bass) With regards to the strumming it's pretty neatly laid out with a 6 string a 12 string and mute strokes. These include I think like 10 or 11 different chords to choose from which are selected using keyswitching. Everything from major chords to dim7 chords to sus chords. very nice stuff. I've had it for a little over a month and I've already used it a lot with great success.

Sounds great. However, I am a little bit worried that the chord instruments sound unnatural - usually, if you strum up and down, some notes are cut off and 'retriggered', and the individual sustain of the notes is different, also depending on strumming speed. So how is this achieved? Does the strumming sound natural? Is progamming simple, or a PITA...?

It's pretty simple. you can load up a patch that either cuts off the previous sample (monophonic) or and identical one that won't cut off (poly). There aren't any midi patterns that come with it so it's pretty much left up to you to make your patterns. I didn't have too much trouble making it sound realistic. sometimes I have added a doubled mute strum to help add more of a live strumming feel. Hope this helps. :)
