using live 6, stylus rmx, reason, some reaper.
i am looking to expand my breakbeat library - i have all the extra packs for stylus.
the sound i am hoping to find - funky hip hop-ish underground vibes. more along the tribe called quest, digable planets angle than contemporary pop hop.
any libraries one can recommend? rex would be ideal for import into stylus/reason.

I've got a few breakbeat products most of which are from the Big fish site (www.bigfishaudio.com) that are breakbeat oriented. All have rex files so they should work out great for you. Breakbusters, Breakbeat Jazz, Smokers Relight and Broken Breaks are all pretty smokin'.
I also have total rex from zero-g. that has some breakbeat material on there but it's more of a grab bag of all sorts of styles. some of it is good and other material is only ok in terms of it's quality.

What an interesting guy that runs that free loop site.
Have you read the "About" section?
I'm not 100% sure of the legality of what he's doing - but it's one time that I've wanted it to be.
This is like a drum beat/break evangelist - an underground preacher. Spreading the word - the sound - the rhythm etc...
Regards
Caleb

is filefront slow as hell, or its just my connection?
anyway declassified, you rock, i already had 101s, and collected and sampled purdie loops myself (along with more than 1000 others (we just gotta love breaks, aint we?), so im interested in the other packs...

be sure not to miss this: http://web.mac.com/drumbreaks/iWeb/Site/Numeric.html
it's a database with 1336 drum breaks, many of which aren't in the 101 pack.
don't know about filefront, i can imagine it's slow.

also good: www.the-breaks.com (you can search for a tribe called quest and see who they've sampled)
also has a good forum: http://www.the-breaks.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=2
and of course, the Grid: http://www.dogsonacid.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=4
which is more drum'n'bass-focused, but they also use breaks.
this german forum has lots of samples: http://www.producer-network.de/forum/index.php
oh and: http://www.darkbeats.com/sampleswap/
that's all i can think of right now.
