M42 Nebula Dreams - Ambient (16:05, 20.5 MB)
http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=1545
Dreams Program:
Insomnia
Succumbing
Dreams I
Deep Sleep
Dreams II
Farewell Dreamland
Nooo! give me back my dreams ...
M42 Nebula synth, with most sounds from the extra TC_Ambient bank. The drums are from Cubix, fittingly using the Cubix preset "Space Cadet." Normally, I don't do drums, so be gentle with me.
This piece reflects my own desires to have the time to make more music. This time finally came during the holidays, and I hurriedly fired up my favorite synth, the M42 Nebula. The piece gently takes one on a journey of the various stages of sleep. The Dreams songs are like real dreams - they seem so real during the dream but upon waking are found to be, excuse the pun, rather nebulous. In this case, at least my dreams did come true.
Warning: That lead sound gets too loud, so I suggest using headphones to listen. I do all my mixing with headphones, as my wife and kids preclude ever listening with speakers. But when I snuck in a listen when they were out, oops, the lead got a little loud. I haven't done a track for a long time and I forgot about that problem.
Enjoy!

PS Thanks P.W., Dr. A & TC for helping make my dreams.

Oops, yes, I think you have to register to download. While free, what a pain. I was looking around for a free place to host this large file (my main site couldn't handle it). I wonder if there is another place? (most of 10MB limits).
Thanks everyone who listened.

Gee, now that's flattering. But no CD here - gasp, what a thought....do you have a cd out?

Dreamy. Beautiful. Hope you'll find more time to make music! (Because I seem to like that kind of ambient ... me? ambient? very strange!) Being able to create such a slow and yet always fascinating music is a gift.
Thanks for sharing,

I like this, from a listening perspective: interesting sounds, I like the ebb and flow and the relaxed feel of it. But I can't envision how someone goes about making music like this!AndreasKrebs wrote:Dreamy. Beautiful. ... Being able to create such a slow and yet always fascinating music is a gift.
But I'm happy to have it playing!

@YBaCuO
there are loads of sites to host your music here are a few
snapdrive.com
filecabin.com
putfile.com
you can directley link to them so a quicktime player plays the file for you.
you could always host them somewhere(such as snapdrive)and get a myspace account and add a flash player to your page(like i have, its easy),you will then be able to have a unlimited amount of tracks on myspace etc.
pm me if you want some links on how to programme the player.

Thanks to Tangentmusic for hosting tips.
Here is a path for a direct download without registering. You have to "Click 3 times" on the Next Page link before the download link appears. Free is not so free after all:

Gee, thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm surprised that some think making this music is hard. With the M42 synth it is really easy - at least for me. I have no idea how to make rock, dance, jazz, etc. kind of music, but I can make this kind of ambient music. I all had to do is let go of total control of the sound and just let the M42 synth work its magic and accept the results! I also make classical music and that is very hard. For ambient with the M42, I just concentrate on making a few simple chorale-like (hymm-like) lines and the find suitable M42 presets with various arp, rym, pad sounds. The result is a relatively unplanned synergy of the chorale lines and the M42 algorithms. An extreme example of this technique is my work The Abyss http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=1078 which only has 4 relatively crude (but modern) chorale lines but with layers of synth sounds on top. The chorale lines are responsible for the constant ebb and flow and various suspensions and the sharing of interesting moments between voices. The M42 is responsible for the all the actual sounds and the special effects.
Ah, well, I'm rambling.
Thanks again!

Ok, just finished listening. Very nice piece of ambient, smooth, well composed, good sound choices. The material suits the subject matter perfectly, nice floaty, dreamy feel, I like the subtle drums. Quite enjoyable, looking forward to more!

I really like this ambient piece. It's very dreamy, and I was almost zoned out on it.

(Some emphasis added in this quote)
Not that I'm a control freak or anything like that, but that description makes it sound like not really a composition. I mean no disrespect to your work by that, since your description makes it sound like more of an improvisational activity, which is a fine thing. But I'm just accustomed to thinking in terms of song structure and melodies and chord progressions and hooks and riffs and the like, rather then the ebb and flow of a mixture of sounds that I'm semi-controlling.
As a more practical matter, how do you know when it's finished? How long it should be? Whether it's missing something?
That's the kind of stuff I mean when I say that I wouldn't have where to start to create something like this.

I think the parts of that that seem hard to me are the "let go of total control" and "relatively unplanned synergy".YBaCuO wrote:I'm surprised that some think making this music is hard.
