Chel-lo-o,
So I've created a scratch track in an almost finished song using some crappy single-sample cello. Now I'm finishing off, and was hoping someone could recommend a decent multisampled Cello?

Free is good, as is reasonable $. I've tried just about every sf2 from hammersound and they're all blech.

thanks,
sk

Claire Fitch has some fantastic cello samples available on her site. Here they are:

There are various sizes and formats there. That should do the trick for you!

Those are decent samples also, but I've heard that they are a nightmare to map since the tuning is off on some instruments. But I haven't tried it myself yet.

Hopefully the Fitch one will do you well.

hey,
tried out the Fitch ones - not too bad, 'though a little noisy.

Indeed, I had a go a year or so ago and they are indeed a nightmare.. not only haphazard tuning, but questionable quality (noisy, and some digital clicks heree and there).

I'll probably spring for some kind of pay instrument soon, EastWest Silver or something, any suggestions? (I'm only really interested in strings).

cheers, sk

If you go the paid way, Gary Garritan is working in a Cello, Gofriller, that will use the tecnology of their Stradivarius library, that is awesome.
