Hello fellow sample enthusiasts. I've recently got into using soundfonts, especially with the great SFZ player. I was wondering what free tool is preferred when trying to create soundfonts of one's own. I'm looking for something basically where I can keymap/stretch wav files, assign them to different velocities etc... Does a program like this exist?

I second the .sfz idea.laputa_sync wrote:.sfz idea
Advantages:
Samples remain separate and intact
The mapping file is an editable text file
.sfz files are loaded by sfz (duh!)
There's a plethora of parameters available to define the mappings and sound of the .sfz patch - Look here.
To me, creating .sfz mappings is easier than creating a soundfont.

Awave Studio, found at http://www.fmjsoft.com
You can create SF2 files with the demo version, as long as they only contain one instrument.

Yeah. It's an alright little program. A little quirky at times, but for the most part, it gets the job done.
And free.
