Hi people, I'm currently seeking people with skills across a broader range or media and art forms for the bITjAM events. The idea is to promote creativeness in Stoke/Staffordshire by planning multi-media events on a regular basis. The audio jammers and visual jammers will develop sound and visual installations (live improvisations) and we can look at using graphic design, video work, improvised movement, live broadcast/collaborations anything goes, quite Avant-Garde.

This will not happen overnight nor should we want it to, however the bITjAM ethos should allow anybody wishing to express themselves creatively to do so. I'm hoping we can raise the interests of local art and media colleges and universities as well as individuals, please could ayou help with this quest. As usual I would appreciate any comments or ideas!

I can supply posters and jpegs to promote this idea!

pHz, you mentioned possible visuals, I have an idea, between the performances we could play a audio and video installation, could you put together a 10-15 minute piece to be played on the night? We have plans to have the next event filmed into a documentary by 2 local media graduates so there will be the opportunity to have the video as part of that too.

if anyone else fancies this idea, providing a 10-15 minute audio and visual display for the event just pm me.

Vurt and all others, you okay for the january gig? I'm running some ideas around, on the last bITjAM we just played cd's between the performances, we could instead have videos and/or solo improvised performances between to keep the experimental flow!

All ideas welcome!

Yep that's it like that, I'd like to promote the artist of the visual stuff but it will need titles appearing at the beginning, so that people don't think I've been dead clever and done the work!

Anytime now I'll get confirmation on the venue, we've just been let down by one venue due to red tape, I'll post the details asap. in the meantime I've put together a simple website to move away from the clutter of myspace!

awesome!
still got my fingers crossed that i can get transport sorted, may have to sort a sofa for the night otherwise...

I'm sure I can sort out a sofa of one of the guys involved, he's cool about that sort of thing, difficult at mine with wife and little un you know how that sort of thing is! There's a 'slot' ready for you to do your own thing and to join in with the improvisation later I just need to know so to organise the night. The PA is awesome, good sub bass, not shy by any means. I'm meeting a couple of guys on Saturday who may be filming the event, I'll know more about that then.

Some dude said he was bringing a light show as well, I've said to all the folks with these ideas to come along because people are meeting new people and generating business and the like. I hope you make it vurt it will be a centre piece for me! Keep us informed.

The guys from Tunnelvizion are providing video equipment as well as jamming throughout the performances, I'm still after AV stuff to play between the sets, I'm meeting another media company tomorrow who will film the event separately..

just had some news...
fortunately some good news, still no driver but things are looking up.

what are my criteria for the solo piece?
ie time, any preference on style(dont wanna do an all out drill n bass set if the rest of the night is mellow ambient if you get me)
and lastly are there any taboos on material? be it political, religous or drug related paraphenalia?
:ud:

cheers for the news, answers:

45 min set

The other sets will range from 127bpm to 170bpm, light and shade throughout.

We have a local hip hop/breaks performance to start the event and then electronic jamming/improvisation for a while then possibly an industrial guy doing a bit at the end.

There's a big emphasis on people jamming throughout the night so your performance may move into a improvised piece after 30-40 mins.

No taboos, the first act are quite politically sharp so go ahead!

There will be experimental videos as well during and between the sets, does that help?

Performers confirmed so far:

Godcomplex
DJ Fresh
Bigun
CMT
White Mountain
Tekkaz

The performers will either be offering their own material for improvisation or adding to other's material (therefore collectively known as the Audiocongress) more to be confirmed!!

Fingers are crossed for the mighty Vurt to make an appearance!

I'll be making an appearance on local BBC radio next Thursday to talk about the bITjAM events!
