I agree that this thread is a bit silly but I completely disagree with your reading of that comment. He most definitely is saying that FL is not a "real app"... Regardless of whether or not there's the inclusive of the word "else" in his statement, isn't FL still being excluded from the list of "real" developers who use C++ (and therefore implied as being inferior)?aMUSEd wrote:But what he is clearly not saying is that FL is not a "real" app and he is therefore not being "elitist". This whole dumb thread is based on people not reading properly.
Pretty stupid comment from Propellerhead stuff memeber on FL

yeah, this thread is stupid. so i will add to it. i have thousands of dollars worth of software synths and hardware for music making. i'm not making any music. wanna bet that it's not the tools that are to blame? use what you want. discuss the technicals if you like, but the truth's been pointed out already. if you like it, use it. if you make music that you like, so good.

"FLS is imo the worst VST host out there. I test vsts using chainer. You'd think that FLS would at least be as compatable as a simple 5 year old host program but it's not."
If I was a FLS user I'd be pissed and loud until IL at least made it as compatable as Chainer. It's been going on so long I get the feeling they can't or don't know how to fix it. Live is the next offender not as bad a FLS yet but it's getting there.
All of the FLS users say "Your VST crashes FLS when are you going to fix it?" when they should be yelling at IL to fix their f**king premier product.
Next time a VST crashes FLS or grab one that you know crashes FLS, DL the Chainer demo and see if it runs ok. If it does the problem is not the VST it's FLS.
As a developer it's a PITA to have your VST running fine on all other hosts but you have to modify it so that it doesn't crash FLS.
how do you test timing issues ?...
That actually made me laugh out loud
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

Man, the Reason threads on KVR go on far longer than any of the other "host/sequencer/workstation" products... And it doesn't even host VST's... And it hasn't had a new release in forever... And it sounds like crap... And its the best product ever for producing all music... And it "will never/better soon/sux because it doesn't/doesn't need" to record audio or have MIDI out...
Every single one of these threads runs the same course. Pretty predictable. Haters and Fan's. These host bash threads are like watching two .500 teams play to a tie.

Why is FL painted to be some simple stupid program that only "tarnce kiddies and beginners" use? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. I'd really like to know what qualifies a host to be "pro" as opposed to "amateur"? This is all so foolish, with these notions of what is and what isn't correct as if anyone could ever say with any convincing amount of confidence that something is what it is.
That last line almost sounds like i'm getting into an evolution vs creation debate. Please don't turn it into that now!
Watch it happen too.

Man, that's not trolling. I'm not beating down one side just to be a prick. I'm not taking sides at all. Matter of fact, that post was a look in retrospect at almost every x vs. y thread on KVR. The point of the post was to show how pointless it gets after awhile...like 7 pages later. Its like when your two buddies are arguing about something that happened way back in high school where they both remember it differently, like got married to their school sweetheart and now they are arguing about who's wife turned out hotter. They always argue about it... every time they get together. Everybody gets tired of hearing about it and finally you just stand up and say "you guys do this every freakin get together, you ruin it for everyone, you get drunk and belligerent, and tonight is apparently going to be no different." at which point...Muzik 4 Machines wrote:and provocative trolls to make another 10 pagesdrez wrote:Pretty predictable. Haters and Fan's.?
Some guy stands up and says "Yer just trollin man! Yer just eggin em on! Yer just lookin for attention!". All the while the same argument continues.
Whatever.
They BOTH need to realize that half the school slept with BOTH of their wives and they should just get on with life and have a beer together.

Every time I read something like that, I'm reminded that FLS is bundled with some various samples and that its generators happen to have default presets. Since I don't use those things, it never occurred to me that they might suck. I have used a couple of the drumkit sounds and they seem okay. But that kind of thing isn't my bag, since what I use it for is mainly recording acoustic piano and flute solo tracks. I know that's a little outside the lines for FLS, but it works just fine, and I found it easier to do in FLS than in most hosts I tried.Kingston wrote:I think my IQ dropped a little reading that.
