Many may have seen these already, but some interesting tidbits are beginning to tumble in. Given S/R's relentless march onto drum loop domination, these look like worthy additions to the collection:
Ocean Way Drums

Ocean Way Drums is the most interesting in my view. Glad to see that you used the powerful Kontakt 2 Player !
What about the guitars collection and Studiophonik ?

I just noticed Bill Bruford is credited as playing with "Kind Crimson" haha woops! It's a bit LIKE King Crimson but more kind (ie. more major chords?)
I am taking a breath now finally coming up for air. What a day. It was insane! Chris (Muse Research Chris) came by and took a picture of me in the Sonic Reality booth this year so maybe he'll post it. We've gone much too far this time!!!!!! It's jam packed with madness from Ocean Way giant studio monitors (think that scene in Back to the Future... yes THAT!) then a 30 foot wall filled with Gold and Platinum records from bands that have recently been recorded at Ocean Way like McCartney, Stones, Green Day, Chili Peppers etc. Then another Genelec system with a subwoofer the size of a small car! Then a "Whisper Room" which is an isolation booth and a bunch of pods... this is the biggest show we've ever done and in every way.
I am too tired to even talk right now but I wanted to pop on and I am glad to see you guys are interested in what we're doing. We're just trying to go out and bring you guys the coolest things possible. We just had an Ocean Way private party and I got to meet Alan Parsons. We had a long conversation about a lot of things. In fact, we might work together on something at some point! This sort of thing is just pure fun for me and I never know who I am going to meet at these things. I didn't even know he was going to this party. Heh. Pretty cool huh? (no toe in the sand, I know Berfy and Beer).
So one day down, another 3 to go. I co-hosted the IK press conference. That was fun.

VERY cool. Talk about a living legend. Despite all the advances in technology since the Beatles, Parsons is still recognized as a true sound innovator. His early work still stands the test of time.Squids wrote: We just had an Ocean Way private party and I got to meet Alan Parsons. We had a long conversation about a lot of things. Infinite Guitars is coming. No worries. It will be here this year. Studiophonik is up in the air I have to tell you. We went drastically over budget and there have been a lot of changes to the software engine to be able to do what we wanted so it's been pushed back and even taken out of the catalog for now. I don't want to say the word "cancelled" because it hasn't officialy been. But, since it draws from sources like the Infinite Instrument series and Studio ProFile series I think the only way Studiophonk can exist anywhere NEAR the price point we'd LIKE to offer it at is if these other products that it pools from are out and successful first. Yes, yes, in retrospect I KNOW I should not have announced it (or maybe just not tried to make it as good as I wanted it, spending an absolute fortune on recording sessions and editing). Bottom line is if people really want Studiophonik and the products that it's source came from then it is possible for it still to happen this year. So, we'll have to see. I'm working on this and I know there's been a lot of anticipation for it. There may be a few other things that will replace it though at some point and we can all discuss it then because I will be curious to know what your thoughts are. Don't worry, I love Studiophonik as much as you guys do but you don't want it to have to cost $2,000 do you? Me neither. So we have to recoup on these Studio ProFile sessions or our eyes are bigger than our stomaches I think. Just telling you the reality and fully willing to admit my mistakes as much as I would tell you the good things I've been able to do. We're not perfect! But, we do our best.brotherone wrote:Yes, what about these productK-Slash wrote:What about the guitars collection and Studiophonik ?![]()

If I have understood, you mean that it will be released if the Infinite Instruments have success (good sales, because of the cost of the development) ? I hope that it will not be cancelled and that it will be released this year.
About the Infinite Guitars, I hope that it will be a Kontak Player 2 instrument
.
Oh by the way, where is T-RackS 2 ?! I mailed IK Multimedia USA about 4 months ago, and they told me that it would be announced at NAMM if everything goes well... So nothing are going well on this ?!
Hope, hope, that's the thing which make us live ^^.

Well, remember that T-Racks is emulating analog gear that itself in hardware hasn't changed necessarily in decades (for the vintage tube effects for example). But, that said, there may be new products in the T-Racks family. Just nothing at NAMM. Again, an effort has been made only to announce products where the shipping is known. If there's anything T-Racks-related and it isn't fully clear as to when then it just isn't going to be announced. Not yet anyway. I hope there is though. I love T-Racks!
Yes, you're right. Technically we have to recoup on Studio ProFiles and Infinite Instruments before we can even afford to give you guys what we'd like to in a Studiophonik... or we have to raise the price of Studiophonik drastically. I prefer to wait and see if people buy the original more detailed material first. Otherwies we've clearly went overboard (hence the non-existence of a product aiming to do such a thing).
Yes, Kontakt 2 will be one of the primary formats.

I assume it'S a little like Philharmonik. It's been on the market a while, it hopefully has brought back the investment by now. Then it's a good time to offer a "special edition" with less GB which opens up the market of those who just can't afford the bigger version and also opens up those who just don't want it all for whatever reason.Squids wrote:Yes, you're right. So if Studiophonic is gonna be a comparable quality for drums/bass/guitar to what Miro does for the orchestra sounds, THEN I'll be the man to get it.
Just make sure we're gonna have quick and intelligent artuculation switching.

That can only be said after exact details of the product are known. If Studiophonic resides in VSL spheres, then 650€ would be kind of normal. That should a clever tool, like the VI-software or the VSL Performance Tool to help getting the programming done. It's the tool that makes it so special. Nowhere else would you get this kind of legato playing. The VI-software makes it really playable LIVE to a great extend, providing that you have prepared the patches you need. That's total workflow for creativity.K-Slash wrote:Squids, if you need to sell Studiophonik at an upper price, I think that at a maximum of 650€ it would be correct.
What do you think guys ?
Do something like this with Studiophonik and the world is yours, Squids.

Although Studiophonik was never meant to have such detailed articulation switching because it was trying to be a band. Also, not JUST a band but one that is cherry picking the character raw sounds to process with the extensive built-in effect section to approximate the authentic sounds of different bands as well (not EVERY band but iconic bands like Beatles, Floyd, Police, Steely etc.) In fact, when we started trying to get to articulation switching too between that and the sheer amount of session costs and editing costs that kept happening because we we're waiting on certain things (accurate multitrack rex, AL and wave authoring which only SR does, for the Studio ProFile titles) it just got WAY out of hand. The product was massive, the expense was enormous (perhaps at that point even more than an orchestra!) and we also wanted certain features in the ST engine that didn't exist yet.telebunke wrote:I assume it'S a little like Philharmonik. Now, there HAS been a lot of development that will see the light of day in various forms. You know about the Studio ProFile titles and Infinite Instrument series. There are even other things including a nice update to SampleTank eventually that may have some of the features we've always wanted for Studiophonik particularly with regard to effects (for instance send effects like Philharmonik has which many people have asked for).
Anyway, your analogy was not bad with Miroslav Philharmonik and CE. In fact, there was even one more level beyond that which is that if Miroslav himself hadn't done as well as he did in the first place recouping and profiting nicely on what he did the first round we might not have been able to obtain it to make a plug-in for drastically less money. Thankfully Miroslav Philharmonik is one of the best selling orchestral plug-ins on the market so it made sense to offer a light version (especially when this light version isn't very limited at all! It's practically the same material as his original library had). We could have done the whole Silver, Gold, Platinum thing with it from the beginning. That was something we thought about too. But, we wanted also to focus on one great product (and actually the regular Philharmonik plug-in has about half of what we were going to put in a "platinum" in the first place). As I mentioned we have quite a bit more material from Miroslav for the future that we'll be uncovering... perhaps in 2007! We'll see. No official news there except that I've said we have all of his original orchestral and choir recordings that he did for himself and a large amount of it surprisingly was not released.
Anyway, I know Studiophonik is a favorite around here and I love it too. I think it WILL see the light of day but we had a choice. Either do a few instruments with a lot of articulations or try to do the "every brand that makes up every band" thing. At the end maybe we'll have something that is a little bit of both. But, really, it's all going to be available in the Studio ProFile and Infinite Instrument titles that way, just for more money collectively but you get great value and a lot of high quality material to justify the prices. Plus you can focus more specifically on what you REALLY want the most and you get more variation and expression of that particular sound or group of sounds.

At the moment if that's all we released from it and charged that amount I don't think it would recoup for years. It's really my fault because I said yes to every session opportunity and we went so over budget because I am the boss and wanted it. However I am after something really great with this plug-in and that's what it takes as well... it's just that you really have 5 plug-ins in one at that point! What would 5 plug-ins cost? A drum, a virtual guitar, a virtual bass, piano, keyboards AND even horns (which were also not up to par as I mentioned... but everything else was and is sounding stellar by the way and we're going to do NEW horns that are on the same level no worries).K-Slash wrote:Squids, if you need to sell Studiophonik at an upper price, I think that at a maximum of 650€ it would be correct.

So, with libraries and maybe even SampleTank sounds, perhaps even a set released on esoundz that gives a taste of what was to be Studiophonik... what do you guys think of that? Could be a group buy! "Studiophonik: the lost sounds" haha Actually, we could do what we did with the Studio ProFile special edition and let people apply the price of it toward Studiophonik if/when it came out but at least you'd have SOMETHING now after all this time. It's a thought.
