how do you make glitch in realtime?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

Sorry about that, I started writing my answer and was interrupted, probably there were several posts in between and I didn't notice them!

i second lucifer. buffer tools are great for this - heizenbox, instajungle, copyshop, replicant...
add to that some midi lfo...

tiny god's 'heartburn' and 'meridian' with their 'mutate' knobs are great for this, too - just send a bunch of notes, automate the mutate knob and buffer-manipulate the shit out of it once you've got something to your liking. :)

Great Demo Nicolas! I almost mentioned Devine Machine also as I am demoing both DM and Lucifer right now. Is there a good comparison between the two products anywhere? or could you give a quick overview?

Thanks,
Craig

All of Ioplongs plugs are great for real time glitching ... I also like a lot of MaxMSP stuff especially Gliko and the Gleetchplug 2.1 package.
I recently picked up a load of MaxMSP plugs that had been ported to Windoze. There's a thread about 'em somewhere ... can't remember where i downloaded them at the moment

Easiest way to create glitches live is to seriously overload your buffer.

You can make glitchy stuff with just about anything, if you bash it long enough.
I made some glitch sound with the deckadance beta. I loaded up a song, had it loop, smacked on the pattern based stutter thing, and then just added some effects on top of that.
Add an amen break with dblue glitch over it and you got instant breakcore.

What I'm trying to say is that you have to think outside of the box.
What helps me to get into the mood is to have real buttons to twist.

lots of great ideas. thanks, everyone.

i got the demo of lucifer since that looks really promising. unfortunately, the flash tutorial stops at 4:22 for me, so i can't get much farther than that. guess i'll have to read the manual.
