Not quite what you're asking, but Reaper now has ReaTune built-in, which will do audio-to-midi. I've only played with it or a few minutes, but it seems to work about as well as any of the other plug-ins for A2M that I've tried in the past.

Widi is ok, but there's nothing I like better than NuTon Muziciendos...especially with guitar as the input source.
It tracks single note runs beautifully.

Now link to Muziciendos, and I'm happy.
Never had good results with WIDI (especially not blowing into the mic) and I tried around 10 different tools - nothing was good at all, didn't check Melodyne though - cause it's over my budget.

Among my tests, I also used TS audio2midi and it was fun to see that it also fluttered around while I was whistling a simple legato tune. After converting I had "jumpy" notes from one single legato note. And this is what most tools do. So if there's a tool that recognizes my whistling as "proper notes" without fluttering, pitching or some shit like that, I'm sold.
I guess the only thing that's really the best in this section, IS Melodyne. But Melodyne is like 500bucks. or those who can't really play piano (or an other instrument except drums)... er... screwed.

Can melodyne do realtime audio->midi as a VST? I thought that it didn't.Compyfox wrote:Among my tests, I also used TS audio2midi and it was fun to see that it also fluttered around while I was whistling a simple legato tune. Not realtime, but at least "render to MIDI" after analysing.

Melodyne Uno is only $200, if that helps. I recently saw a boxed version of Melodyne Cre8 at a local music store for a little over $200 Canadian, too.Compyfox wrote:I guess the only thing that's really the best in this section, IS Melodyne. But Melodyne is like 500bucks.

Melodyne Uno can't render to MIDI. Only cre8 and Studio can do that.

If you're working with monophonic melodic lines, rather than chords, I've found Midifier quite helpful.
Cheers.
