don't know if my comment helps since I'm not strictly into glitch, I use it more as tool to get somewhere else. fluently, possibly. not just stuttering. even a feedback could be a glitch.
find "sweet spots" in synths and whatever device, find the parameter that makes a patch go insane.
another thing is not just making glitching sounds but also glitching structures.
finding ways to sync and de-sync. every possible wrong way of playbacking. ArcDev plugs, like the Cyclotrons, Wavehack, Blitter.
I'll never get tired of it, Tobybear's Helios is cool.
LostTech, M.Brinkmann's Particle Cloud, SplineTime, the good old Transverb.
also, can't see what is wrong with JD plugs, specially while arranging.
just take some time to write down all correct parameters names and automate'em.

Reaktor, reaktor, and then, maybe reaktor....
I used to do some gigs a few years back where I had a laptop hooked on my rig just for it. there is about 200 glitchy type ensembles on there website for users to download. oh, did someone mention copyshop?

It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

I have Reaktor 4 but never really got heavily into it. Which realtime (MIDI triggered) glitch effects do you recommend?Chopper wrote:Reaktor, reaktor, and then, maybe reaktor....

circuit bend a keyboard or two!
do not use your lappie on stage!!! my god, nothing is as boring...
alternatively, play your prepaired loops and samples on a multitrack recorder through a kaoss pad 3, a good filter, one of the moog pedals, and the new boss loop pedal.

How to make glitch/electro:
Take promo photo of self (band members optional) standing in front of a [garage/stairway/industrial building] holding a [serious/deadly serious] pose, [looking in the distance/looking at the ground/wearing sunglasses], wearing [smart casual/casual/smart/no] clothes.

haven't seen a single cd by glitch artists that had them (or anyone else for that matter) on the cover...EoN604 wrote:How to make glitch/electro:

yeah... what goes under glitch for me usually doesn't have people on the cover... actually i'm pretty sure some of them have never published any pictures of themselves anywhere...
just think it's a difference between glitch and synthpop/electroclash/whatever in sound as well as philosophy. not that it really matters, though.
e.g. ladytron have had themselves on the cover for every single album, while the knife haven't done so on any of their three albums
richard d. james' face is well-known and featured in videos and on cd covers, yet not all the time. and while venetian snares have some pretty disturbing covers none of it features the man himself, i think...
coh, alva noto and autechre don't feature photos of themselves anywhere close to their music, either, if at all, afaik...
i just think when making an off-the-cuff sarcastic comment it might just as well be a good one and not like the one above. damnit, i want quality irony here on kvr.
