how can one automate the fx level of a plugin in the mixer? not yet there (this feature)?

Do you mean the Wet level of Inserts and Sends?
If you have a MIDI or Audio track directed to a channel that utilise either an Insert or a Send then click the [+] to add a controller channel should allow you to not only automate the Dry/Wet level of Inserts/Sends but also their internal parameters.
