Hi everybody,

Paul and I have a gift for you, to thank our customers for 2006. This is a Kawai grand piano which I sampled using three mics. Each mic is stored as a separate soundset, allowing you to mix the piano however you want, giving you a variety of tones. Included with the soundsets are a bunch of ManyStation presets which demonstrate different ways of mixing the piano, though the soundsets can be loaded into ManyGuitar and ManyOne also.

The piano itself is pretty bright, and has a lot of personality. The three soundsets total 274 MB uncompressed (and 127 MB compressed).

Sweet, thanks to you ManyDudes™. :)

Hey All
First ...Thanks for the Thanks!
Did you guys check out Gregs MP3 demo? It blows me away how he just starts jamming about half way through it on the piano and he goes hard until the end. That guy can play! Nice work Greg, not only on the samples but in using them properly. :-)

I also wanted to mention that the track also features ManyStation on the Lead sound, and an Upcoming New ManyTone Product on the Bass. ;-) (Sounds cool too eh?)

I probably won't mail all our customers about this until our next newsletter in a week or so. So you guys who see it here on the forum get first crack at it. Don't forget to come back here after you get it and tell us what you think, and also post any tracks made with it ... I would love to hear them.

Had a chance to give these a quick once over. First of all I was surprised by the number of presets, very generous of you. After playing with each one a little I'd give them an Excellent across the board. They all made me want to play them longer and I could hear them sitting well in some of the stuff I'm working on. I cant think of a higher complement than that.

As always Gergj'z playing is inspirational for a one handed hack like me.

One comment, and maybe you guy's could give me some advice. I found the overall levels to be pretty low and had to crank things up to get a decent volume for solo playing. I Have the same experience with the Upright Bass. I'm guessing this is probably a velocity curve difference between my setup an the rig they were created with?

One wish, that you "Manydudes" find the time to put together a multisample Brush kit of equal quality to the Bass and this Piano
(RMIV format)

Thanks for more great stuff.

Thanks MRT!!

I know that the piano is on the quiet side because I normalized the overall session file, but kept the individual note volumes due to the fact that I had to operate on 3 soundsets at the same time. I couldn't normalize each individual note because that would unbalance the 3 soundsets.

The upright bass should be louder--all the samples are normalized.

I would love to sample some drums, brush drums, too, and I know Paul has plenty of experience with sampling drum sets, too. I guess the issue that's been stalling me is that there are already so many drum solutions out there--the NS Kit 7 is really extensive, the new Addictive Drums, etc.

Yes, Thanks MRT

You can also try going to the Preferences in ManyStation or WusikStation and switching the output level to louder. Also play with the volumes on the layers and Master channel. Of course you could always add a compressor in the chain and get your volume and dynamics pump there a bit too.
One main thing to note is that different Hosts, Default output at different Levels also. I notice for example that Orion is much louder than EXT at default volume settings of the host. That makes it tough to get Presets volumes right for all users in all hosts especially on Natural Acoustic Instruments.

Anyways, glad you like the sounds.
