Having to activate monitoring first, gives you one huge advantage. You decide when Podium loads all its plugins. When you use a huge sample library, loading an arrangement can take up to several minutes. By the way, you do not have to activate monitoring manually. When you press the play button (or your space bar), monitoring activates itself. So there is no extra step for you to take.
