I don't see that at all. Most people love to gossip, express their opinions, talk about what they like and dislike. One of the favorite things for people to express is how unhappy they are with a particular purchase--it let's them vent, and it makes them feel good to warn others by using themselves as an example. Only a small minority with some serious personality defect or baggages will actually stand behind purchases they hate. The average normal person is not that twisted.idobs wrote: People will 99% stand behind their purchases because they don't want to admit making a mistake, especially over money spent. Worse yet, they need to justify spending that money, ESPECIALLY when the synth is actually bad!

I may be alone here, ....but since we're on the topic...microtonic.....the gui is well designed,....the concept is excellent,...just enough tweakable parameters without being overwhelming....could use a random button....regardless, just a flat out great produced plug.....but it seems like no matter how you tweak each pad, any kit you create has that same microtonic sound....and i'm just not a fan of it....too gameboyish for me....but i'm sure thats prolly why some luv it....for electronic drum sounds fresh out the box with no effects, i think drumular, waldorf attack, and the dks pro demo sound better......being that microtonic isnt exactly cheap, that there is so much competition in this space, and the amount of raving i heard on this site about it......I'd have to say its a great plug in execution, but overrated in my opinion....my 2 cents

anything by concretefx, i dont get it. i used to see people rave about kubik, but i spent hours with it and couldnt come up with anything worth using, i downloaded various banks, about 15 in total , and couldnt find 1 good sound. dont wanna sound like a hater , but the sound of this synth is shite. same goes for adder. the guis are the worst ive seen, look like theyve been knocked together in windows paint. and i get processor overload warnings trying to load 1 patch.
so many free synths that sound better than these, i was very disapointed

You didn't like the flutes or guitars in Steam Pipe? Those are pretty sick.DavenH wrote:I was brutally underwhelmed with Reaktor. When a synth is purported to be able to make 'any sound imaginable', it's disappointing that you can't find a single decent tone in any of the included ensembles.

I was disappointed with Steam Pipe. I am a big fan of PM synths so that was one of the reasons I gave Reaktor a whirl, but while it was not bad, it did not say anything special to me.

I agree about Absynth, pretty diappointed, and also disappointed with Hypersonic, although I only have version 1 not 2.
I'm still searching for the right "bread and butter" synth bank for me. I have Sampletank SE (free with Tracktion 2) and it's pretty good but it's really only a demo in that there aren't many sounds on in, compared to the 'real' Sampletank 2 product.
Don't know whether to go for the full Sampletank 2 or Sonic Synth. For the money (£50), HALion 3 Player is pretty good for bread and butter sounds, although clearly it's a ROM player rather than a synth.

DUNE is THE most overrated synth right now. Computer Muisc are pushing their CM version and all the f**king noobs are going on about Dune. .. BUT ITS SHIT, especially the filters.
Predator is also shit... and Synth 1.... shit.
Here are 2 synths with great sound and annoying interfaces:
Zebra
Ableton Analog

Generic trance. Generic trance everywhere.

While I'm at it, the Virus. Fantastic if that's the kind of sound you're going for, but I find it stupid how "does it sound like a Virus" seems to be the first thing people ask about a new synth here.
