It would be great to use the whammy bar like keyboard mod wheels, both wheels, pushing down the bar will add an artificial LFO vibrato and pulling up the bar it will add modulation.
Please someone can update me about the best and easiest software for the EZ-EG ? i'm reading all the thread and i'm a little tired, i've only tried the TenCrazy.com software by the time, it's great but i need to add the left-handed feature combining with others like muting open strings and low velocities...

Hmm, forgot that on the suite (http://homepage.hispeed.ch/mbncp//ezgsuite00245784/), will be on 1.08funkiEst wrote:Please someone can update me the best and easiest software for the EZ-EG ? i'm reading all the thread and i'm a little tired, i've only tried the TenCrazy.com software by the time, it's great but i need to add the left-handed feature combining with others like muting open strings and low velocities...
In Markleford's script you can edit a file called ezPreset.js
at the top type this:
var s0 = 5;
var s1 = 4;
var s2 = 3;
var s3 = 2;
var s4 = 1;
var s5 = 0;
now for each line containing
patch.row[SOMENUMBER] ...
add a s before the NUMBER, so that
patch.row[0] becomes patch.row[s0]
patch.row[1] becomes patch.row[s1]
patch.row[2] becomes patch.row[s2]
....
or just make a find replace
find: patch.row[
replace with: patch.row[s
I think it should work, but make sure to make a copy of the file first

Hey DW, The EG's strings are less floppy than the AG's.(I own an EG and havedusted william wrote:I have tha AG, the strings are pretty soft. Are the strings on the EG pretty stiff? good enough for some hard funk rhythm guitar styles?
thanks
dw
had a couple of opportunities to play AG's). So yeah, more tension on the EG
better for flatpicking.
Cheers....CL

THANK YOU !!!!!! mbncp !!!!!! you diserve a monument for your contribution, and all people with an EZG should know your software and Markleford's too !
It's a pity that Yamaha developers were so blind with his own creations, too much wasted power ! but in the other hand we are the few discoverers of such an exclusive tool....and i'm gonna use it a lot live !!!! i like it in every ways, even the conceptual way to express my artistic style, i dont want to use a guitar, i want to use a modern electronic tool like EZ EG.
Nevertheless, mbncp, your app should be at the top of every google "EZ-EG/AG" search !!!
I first tried the Markleford's script and yes, it worked, what a joy to play at least in left handed mode !
BUT the problem comes when i try to use it in my laptop, because there is a conflict with the BCR2000 script(you know, the Behringer midi controller), the BCR2000 script helps to programming it altough it's not indispensable is so useful, and it uses and old version of Java, and i think this is why the Markleford's script doesn't work in my laptop, and if i update the Java version (i'll try to confirm it) i couldn't use the BCR2000 script anymore, and i really need it ! so i think the only solution will be the GREAT Marc script, i'll wait for the left handed version !

You can't find the ezg Yahoo group by searching for ez-ag or ez-eg, you might want to change that, get some attention.

No, that code is for Marc's version. I'll put up the code for left-hand later today: I used to have a left-hand preset, in fact, but deleted it long ago! Will also work on your crash problem.funkiEst wrote:Uhm, i havent readed all the thread, i've just arrived here, so as i read each related post i'm trying the ways to flip my EZ-EG for left handed use, and this one is suposed to work with TenCrazy.com application, isn't it ? the fact is that i can't find the code above mentioned. Please left handed users, help me ! i love EZ-EG, i'll use live and home, it's just the kind of tool i was looking for my cosmic funk !

funkiEst, I'm not sure if you're the lefty I'm helping via email, so I'll just repeat it here...
I don't have time to create a new release of the app right now, but you can add this code to the "ezPreset.js" file by hand (should be fairly easy to see where it goes):
As for the crashing problem, did you say that it worked for you the first time you tried it? If so, there may be an issue with MIDI ports not being opened/closed/shared between apps correctly. If it works for you again after restarting the computer, then that's probably the case. Otherwise, I might suspect the latest version of Internet Explorer might cause some troubles (I haven't updated IE myself, so it's untested).
Feel free to PM or email me for the crashing problem if it continues: no need to bore the rest of the readers here with troubleshooting.

patch.playStyle = PLAY_GUITAR;
patch.velOrig = 16;
patch.velHammer = 64;

patch.row[1].channel = 1;
patch.row[2].channel = 1;

I just got my EZ-EG and the string tuning that the internal audio plays is tuned correctly but the string tuning for the top 2 strings (E,B) is a 1/2 step down when I trigger Reason or any of my NI synths. Any suggestions?
Also, Markleford, I love your software...coupla questions:
Anyway to filter the midi info (i.e.: velocity, scale constraining, etc.)
Anyway to make sure that all notes sounds above and at a certain velocity? On some patches the sounds is so faint or does not sound at all....usually the patches that are looking for open strings, strings not plucked, etc.
Thanks in advance...you rock!!!

If you're using my app, then I should point out that many of my patches are tuned in perfect fourths (EADGCF), so make sure you're not using one of those.hedrocker wrote:I just got my EZ-EG and the string tuning that the internal audio plays is tuned correctly but the string tuning for the top 2 strings (E,B) is a 1/2 step down when I trigger Reason or any of my NI synths. Certainly... if *you* feel up to it!Anyway to filter the midi info (i.e.: velocity, scale constraining, etc.)
But I'm going to make user-modified functions easier to write in the future by further abstracting the code to make modification easy for even non-programmers.
Also in the user-fix-it-yourself department, there is a function called "defaultVelocity()" in the file "ezPreset.js" that allows you to modify how responsive your strings are to velocity. But this is a global setting intended to make up for string sensors that might go bad (to strong or weak). If you *always* want the behavior you speak of, you could try these settings:Anyway to make sure that all notes sounds above and at a certain velocity? On some patches the sounds is so faint or does not sound at all....usually the patches that are looking for open strings, strings not plucked, etc.
Code: Select all
function defaultVelocity()
{
// "row" is the string number
// String velocity: low threshold
// Set this to the lowest average velocity each string produces
patch.row[0].velLowIn = 30;
patch.row[1].velLowIn = 30;
patch.row[2].velLowIn = 30;
patch.row[3].velLowIn = 30;
patch.row[4].velLowIn = 30;
patch.row[5].velLowIn = 30;
// String velocity: high threshold
// Set this to the highest average velocity each string produces
patch.row[0].velHighIn = 31;
patch.row[1].velHighIn = 31;
patch.row[2].velHighIn = 31;
patch.row[3].velHighIn = 31;
patch.row[4].velHighIn = 31;
patch.row[5].velHighIn = 31;
// High and low values above with be scaled to these values below
patch.velStringLow = 0;
patch.velStringHigh = 101;
}
What I'll probably do is find some time to work on this app and then solicit requests from all the users, then try to find the most flexible way to make them all happen. Someday!

All channels down to one channel and filter out low velocity fretted but not picked notes= http://www.niallmoody.com/ndcplugs/ndcmidi.htm
I just found this link in the instruments forum, says it does what i just wrote. I'll have to check that out.
Edit:They both work great. Check em out.
Edit 2:I unregistered the midix script, that cut way back on latency for some reason. That script never liked me. Good so far, I tried a quick 2 track recording. I have to go to bed now.
