Drum Samples

Hi
After downloading Pettinhouse's free drum kits (very nice, thanks!) I thought I would post this.
I am always looking for drum samples, but rarely buy/download any. Unless I can be certain that they have come from a legit source (ie: not sampled from commercial recordings [no matter how unrecognisable they may be] or ripped from existing sample libraries) then I don't buy them.
I mean, they has to be a finite source of drum sounds, but an unlimited of ways of processing them and changing them. I've contacted in the past several sellers on Ebay about their '100% copyright-free' drum samples, and received no response - presumably they weren't as copyright-free as they had originally said.
I'm maybe being overly cautious, but especially after hearing about BT's troubles with that one sample on his library I don't want to take any chances.
Anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this? Can anyone recommend any places to buy good original drum sounds from?
Thanks!

Big Fish Audio has a ton of stuff. They have been around longer than most companies and have a great rep in the industry. I asked a guy from there and they said they have over 400 titles they sell. I personally have a number of there titles and I am not dissapointed by them. I rarely do online dowloads simply becuase most of them are from smaller companies that just don't have the rep. what specifically are you looking for? I may be able to point you to something that you might like.

Thanks for the advice, I have some of Big Fish's stuff (some House CDs if I remember correctly) and they're cool. At the moment I'm looking for some nice hard/punchy/snappy drum sounds like the stuff from Madjef's 'Black Butta 3' sample CD... I'm experimenting with some new stuff at the moment and am wanting something similar to the drums of Timba/Neptunes... I know that a lot of this can be done with a bit of graft, compression and EQ, but I'm looking for a starting point. Also, I have grown fond of downloads recently purely so I can get my hands on the samples straight away

well this is a BFA DVD and not a download but I think you would really like the sound of "Notorious" I just got it in and haven't listened to it all yet but so far it seems exactly as you described. So if you can handle a few days of shipping then this is my recemendation for that kind of stuff. It's my favorite hip hop product I've heard in a while.

There is a good drum kit available at kara-moon.com and also when The Audio Garden is launched(soon), the Mats Helgesson drum kits will be available there. Some very nice stuff. Also, you can try nskit.com and get their free kit. Add to that the GSCW drums(don't remember the link), and also EasyRider and RuffRider, and then the First Aid Kit. That should be plenty of acoustic kits to get you started. Sorry, but that's what I deal with is acoustic kits.
Just google any of the above and you will see them. I can post links later(gotta get some rest now) if you can't find them. Sorry if these don't fit what you want. Just trying to help!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help! Symphonysuite - I checked out Notorious, and ordered straight away, it sounded great and 4gigs for $100 is a bargain. I picked up a couple of other things while I was there too
Brent, thanks for the help, I managed to get the Natural Studio kit which is fantastic, thank you!
