Is this using the samples from the original solo strings library? if he is does anybody have any idea how good it is?

Some of the package is, yes. I've only heard it used by a friend of mine in his work. I think it has a wonderful sound, and he prefers the timbre of the instruments over those in VSL. Now they look to be more playable and there are new divisi samples in the package. I thinks its a great deal considering its priced the same as the original set.
