I was trying to sequence the Pink Panther theme and acheiving a Sax sound without using a Sampler (or a Rompler), anybody interested in trying to see how close they can get without using samples (or Romples).

Might be better if we posted without declaring which synth was used at first and then the fanboys won't automatically vote for their favorite..

Anybody up for it?

Hey Ian. I'm in, here's my first try. Yes totally sythesized. Reverb was synths fx too, hope this is allowed. Subtractive synth. I think additive might yield better results. I think this needs some more harmonics!

Well Ian, I answered today in a "which synths would you recommend thread"

. It's true, it is easier than to get a sax sound done in a synth for me. Simply because I tweak my Krakli-and other synths for sounds I need in my songs, not for real instruments (but it is most interesting!).

But I'd much appreciate for the humble folks like me, if the sarcastic and not so sarcastic contest-winners and second and third best would - afterwards - not declare which synths were used, but what makes a(ny) synth capable of producing a sax-like sound

.
This way a bit of slightly useless sarcasm would be used to make people more aware of what is possible with synths, which would be really nice

Sarcasm is never useless ! If it wasn't for sarcasm all other forms of wit would be proportionally lower.

i had a go at it, the lower register is much better than the high register. it needs a bit more tweaking but it is ok so far.

you shouldnt have to think hard to guess which synth i used

oh, i was going for a baritone timbre rather than the plain reed tenor timbre.. they used a baritone in the pinkpanther theme right?

love your sound ! Very deep and gritty. It has that quality which remind me of an acoustic instrument and yet sounds electronic. Great !
