That is what we're doing (and have talked about in this forum)... except the news/solution will be even better than that. We'll have Studiophonik available this quarter.kronkite wrote:Very very disappointing news about StudioPhonik, but not unexpected given the 2-year+ delay since the original announcement.
Why not release a "base" version with less material and then upgrade capsules to complete the band?
Sonic Reality News from NAMM begins to tumble in...

Cool. So maybe you can introduce a base version with 2-3 bands and then upgrade capsules for additional bands (Police, Beatles, Yes, etc.)Squids wrote:That is what we're doing (and have talked about in this forum)... except the news/solution will be even better than that. It's not really done that way. It's more of a Guitar - Bass - Drums module with the more specific authentic vintage gear classic rock and jazz bands have used. It's not so much that you get the "Police expander" kind of thing. But we'll have Police-esque patches in there for example.kronkite wrote:Cool. There will be more down the line but it will be revealed over time.

Got it...just suggesting another way to cut the cake. Might be a lucrative business model.Squids wrote: It's not really done that way. Hey Squids,
Did you get much of a chance to walk the floors at NAMM, or were you too busy with your own stuff?
I'm just curious if there is anything else that you saw at NAMM (other than your own stuff), that you would like to buy?

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

I always walk the floor a little bit on the last day. But, my favorite thing is to go to HALL E and look for unusual world instruments. This time I bought Uellian Pipes. I didn't see as many ethnic instruments this time though. Analog Heaven was cool and I took a bunch of pics that I should upload. Modular synths and things like that but I don't really need to buy any.ben_horwood wrote:Hey Squids,

I didn't really see that many "must have" toys or software at the show. Well, I did like the new Mackie control surface a lot. The unusual "Axis" instrument in our booth was fun and I want one of those. The Continuum Fingerboard is always a fun thing to see but I have one (couldn't resist). The "Fader Port" from Pre Sonus looks like fun. I also picked up a Boss Micro BR for portable lyric and vocal part writing (overdubs in the car!).
NAMM was fun more because of the people I talked to than the gear. I did have my Mellotron displayed in another booth though. It's hard to compete with a white boxy keyboard.

Oh yeah, really cool to know that Studiophonik is finally right around the corner ? This Q1 2007 ? Oh man, good news !
I really need to check these electric basses and guitars that you recorded. If the sound quality is optimal, and the playability as well, so : count me in
.
Hopin' for some keyswitches for the articulations ^^.

I agree Squids, that Continuum thing looks pretty sweet.
And you are still collecting your world instruments!
So shall we be expecting an "Ethnophonik" anytime soon? "Featuring Squids on world instruments."
