Hi. I'm interested in buying the M-Audio DMP3 due to what I've read in the threads on this forum. Has anyone had any experience with either of these pres? How does the DMP3 sound compared to the DAV BG1? The DAV BG1 costs £499 & the DMP3 £105. Does the DAV sound 5 times better as it price would suggest?

I have'nt tried either but can say with some confidence that the DAV does not sound 5 times better. It is an art of diminishing returns. To begin with, what is better ? The DMP3 might sound better to you in the way you're using it. The DAV might be built for a very specific sound that YOU don't want.
The only way is to try them both and see if the price difference is worth it to you.
It is like saying a Lamborghini Murcielago does 200 miles per hour.A Ferrari Enzo is 4 times as expensive, will it do 800 miles per hour ?

Thanks for the info guys. The DAV is going to be well out of my budget because I would like to spend more on acoustic treatment and add more mics to my collection. I'm thinking of selling my Studio Projects VTB1 and get the DMP3. This would give me both the coloured SPL Goldmike pres and the transparent DMP3 pres. I'm also thinking of starting a new thread to find out how people compare the DMP3 to the Mackie VLZ and ONYX pres- what do you reckon?
