Hello Aciddose,
I like your synth very much. The sounds come very close to hardware. I prefer the new black GUI with the wood in the background. But there's something I wish to get off: The soundbanks and presets from old beta-versions are not compatible. Actually in the new 11.11 Version I couldn't load the original default.bank and old .adxi Presets. There comes the message "Invalid soundbank" or the presets sounds dirty distorted. Is there a chance to get a new beta with full compabillity?

"Is there a chance to get a new beta with full compabillity?"
no. i have always said, and you can find in the help section on the site that patches saved with an alpha version will not load with a beta version. patches saved with the last beta (6) will not load either, since there are extreme changes.
if you made patches and cant load them anymore you're out of luck. i can not load my patches either.
this version of the "default bank" will load, but the sounds reproduced will not be accurate.
http://xhip.cjb.net/temp/public/default.adxb
for the next beta (7) new banks will be released. work can not start on these until we're in the testing period for that version. see http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/todo.cgi

Wow this is some SERIOUS synth. just discovered it today. Thank you Mr. aciddose!
The Gsoto GUI is looking phat, I love 2d interfaces and hate all that fake texture shadow crap. The interface as it is now is really nice as well by the way. I am ultra impressed, thank you so much!

"The sounds come very close to hardware." - this kind of comment is always funny to me. both because xhip isnt ment to sound like anything in particular, as if "sounding like analog hardware" is some supreme goal to be strived for by all software synthesizers, and because i've never heard any hardware sound like this before.
if you search xhip on google, you'll get this as the first result:

Xhip is a subtractive synthesizer which is implemented in a pure form. Other software subtractives attempt to do 'analog modeling', Xhip is not a 'VA'.

WOW! last three audio files = pwn!
now... dose, whhhyyy is the latest xhip beta back to using the non-tabbed out menu thing? you know, where you have to click on the top menu thing many times instead of having one tab for each page. it's just crazy. it makes my girlfriend think i don't know what i'm doing.
"sit tight baby, i'm gonna let you hear some synth sickness!"
"is it a va?"
"no its not a va dammit! just... just listen.. or... wait hold on... i which menu was... um."
"we're through."
see? help.

Too right! A good softsynth IMO is always the best choice for bass. (Well for what I do anyway)aciddose wrote:xhip isnt ment to sound like anything in particular, as if "sounding like analog hardware" is some supreme goal to be strived for by all software synthesizers, and because i've never heard any hardware sound like this before.
I have hardware analogue synths (and I used to have a whole wall of them) but the envelopes are usually not fast or precise enough, or they click after the release stage.

Well, even if Xhip isn't intended to emulate a specific hardware or sound, I must also admit - as a long time user of old analog hardware - that Xhip does extremely well at that stuff. I can't tell exactly why, it's somehow the sum of the parts. The pure soundquality yet is amazing, that's one point, another is how many harmonics are in the sound and how they are treated through the envelopes which respond very snappy and organic to my ears. Whatever - I can't await the final Xhip Version for my taste with the 70s skin as seen a few pages before...
Xhip rules!
BTW: Would it be possible to add a SubOscillator like those on the old Rolands...for Juno and 101 type sounds, that'd be nice!? Or maybe just adding a third osc?

transpose the 2nd oscillator -12st and use sync B->A, you'll get _exactly_ the same responce as you would expect from a "sub oscillator". for more oscs you'll need to wait for "xhip 2" or "xhip modular". i've already decided on the basic layout of the synth, two of everything here, not one, not three.
not sure when that'll be, i need to finish this version of xhip first.
onur_77; cool, the timbre is almost spot on there. did you use the waveshaper a bit or is that mostly just the sine already in there?
http://xhip.cjb.net/temp/public/acorndian001.mp3
i make it a rule to take time now and then to produce some music with xhip. otherwise i'd get too detached. xhip is an instrument after all. it helps to remind me what xhip really needs for workflow and so on.
bengeorge; i didnt make any changes like that to xhip in the last version. the last version is http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/releases/v0/b6 ... .11.12.dll

(btw ben, you can always use my upload thing at xhip.cjb.net/upload .. files will remain there, or moved into the sub directories for the lifetime of xhip.cjb.net which will be quite a long time. you can ask me to move, rename or delete them any time you want as well)
showing the synthesizers to the women just doesnt work
last girl i was with i was trying to show xhip and stuff, and she just wanted to have sex on it. she had this weird thing with having sex on everything. i know, sounds real horrible eh?
ok, but when it gets to that point it isnt so great. "you just want to use my personal interests as sexual objects
"
maybe one day we'll all get lucky and meet that hot half-machine cyber chick.
