hey;
just a wierd thing here regarding your download link: in Opera, it switches .dll to .exe, no matter what i do. If i change it before it saves to .dll, then when i check the file, it is .dll.exe :lol:

i just copy the link and open up IE, so it's no big deal. I guess i could probably just change it after it downloads, but it seems to me it f**ked up when i did that once...
anyway, yours is the only .dll link that has ever done that to me. Any idea why?

i am not asking (or even wanting) you to check out Opera and / or try to fix it, but more just curious if you know why it does that?

as a web programmer myself, i have never come across something like this, and don't know how i would fix it if it happened on one of my sites, so who knows...???

it might be due to the mime type, but my mime file is the debian default.

it contains
application/x-msdos-program com exe bat dll
i could change this to application/octet-stream as i have before to 'fix' this problem i guess, but it doesnt have any problem with this in firefox.

the mimetypes file is actually very frustrating for me. i want to display certain files like .c .cpp .h .x as plain text. unfortunately in firefox they're always sent as binary with application/octet-stream (i think) dispite that i've clearly modified the mimetypes file to make them text/plain. i do not know what to do about this, this is one whole in my knowledge, i do not know much about apache.

If you are using windows(XP) in windows explorer you can go to Tools>Folder Options>View
Then de-select [] "Hide Extensions for known file types". Then you can change the extension via a rename without a problem.

Hey - that's a cool track there! And this comes from a non Rap/HipHop guy. But it sounds a lot like early 80s EBM + some vocals, really cool! The beat is great, the short bass drone tones are superb and correspond great with the beat. I like that...

Yea, dopey stuff :D. I'd put a distortion on vocals so it'd be EBMish even more :wink:. It's cool.

Hey, some serious music going on here. I hope the thread keeps this direction.

onur, Nice sound. Sounds authentic to my ears; I'm not a good reference though. Can we have that patch? :D

acid, Your last piece is amazing; one of your best in my opinion. I like the percussion. The only crit is that I wish it had a more interesting end.

beng, That's great man! Very enjoyable tune. We want more. 8)

yeah onur, how did you play it? just with the keyboard or a modwheel or what?

i was going to try another track last night but something about this flu i have was making me soooo irritable. it was weird. i felt like murdering the monitor for no real valid reason. even when things were going just fine (was doing a bit of work for the gui on the linux xhip) suddenly i'd start getting all pissed off :lol:

so i figured i'd better just take a nap.

i havnt been "just making music" for a long time. i can never really do real tracks, i find my best stuff comes out if i just start messing around without any real goal in mind. i guess if i were to do that with more drive i might be able to cut off the wild edges and form the stuff into tracks afterward. so i'm going to try some of that.

i was trying for this ohc-compo idea here on kvr, but there doesnt seem to be enough regular activity for that kind of thing. the "just fool around and trim off nasty bits later" method is what you generally have to do in an ohc.

bronco rash: it happens to the best of us!

hey... i think someone once asked you about zeroscillator:

http://www.cyndustries.com/modules_zero-osc.cfm

what do you think? could it be implemented in software?

and what happened to the sine oscillator in xhip?

"zeroscillator" = overpriced useless load

sine = triangle, 100% pulsewidth.

btw the highpass sawwave in the ford bronco bit represents the scratching.

Thanks for the patch, onur.

How does that work exactly?

xhip is my favorite synth for hip-hop scratch noises. It has really fast response for glides and such and you can make a really organic dirty sound with a short release that sounds like a gated scratch. Theres lots of ways to do it but it's one of my favorite lead sounds.
