How to create this using subtractive synthesis?

for Xylophone you need at least two oscillators with sine or triangle wave, tune it one two octaves above the other,

the higher one must have a shorter decay,

you can use the VCF to enhance the attack,

ring modulation or PWM to enhance metallicy in Glockenspiel sound,

that's a good start

Thanks.

But what if my synth cannot tune the OSC differently?

Also do most synths allow you to adjust decay on just one of the OSC?

I'm using Remedy and 3xOSC.

Remedy cant tune the OSC differently.

3xOSC I can't seem to apply a shorter decay on the higher OSC.

those have indeed not much features,
anyway for a challenge I made 3 mallet presets
for Remedy

play in higher octaves

mallet2 sounds quite good IMHO

Thanks! Thats great. Now I need to figure otu what you done (still a beginner here).

So basically for mallet2, its Sine Wave with small decay?

I have been playing for the last hour and I made some very nice patches in 3xOSC and xhip thanks to your guidelines.

While Remedy gave me some temporary excitement, its not powerful enough to get things done.

Thanks.

In that case use two instances of the synth to create the sound. Create the lower tone with the first one higher tone with the second one. This way you can adjust decays separately.
