Cool cheap drum machines/grooveboxes?

Are there any? I have a Roland D2 Groovebox and a Zoom Streetboxx, and I like them both as they have weird beats and synth bleeps.
Anything else? The Raveolution sounds pretty basic to me, I'm not investing in a Machinedrum or the newer Roland grooveboxes, the Korg Electribe seems pretty basic so far to me.
Thanks! RBR

I have a Boss SP505 groovebox ... cost me £350 a few years ago. It has a waveform editor, and some decent onboard fx ... and can import wavs via smart media cards. The pads light up when they're playing too
I've done quite a few gigs with it, with no problems. The only drawback is the sequencer has only 99 patterns available.
I've seen 'em go for less than £200 on eBay recently ...

I knew of these. I have an SH-32, that's not useful as you have to hold down a MIDI note for a drum loop IIRC.

Have you tried the E-Mu's? Very deep machines.RunBeerRun wrote:I knew of these. I have an SH-32, that's not useful as you have to hold down a MIDI note for a drum loop IIRC.
Personally I'd just save the cash for a used Machinedrum but that's just me.

I did an Ebay search on the e-mu, not as cheap as I want.
You can use the SH-32 as a drum machine, just press the hold button.

There's the Yamaha DJX-IIb, I remember watching some auctions and they ended at like $30.
Vintage synth used to have a ton of mp3s of them, and I didn't like them, they have one realaudio now, it sounds ok.
But I don't think there's anything new to offer.

i am probably off base here responding witha piece of software. Upfront, i'm quite a firm believe in hardware based components.
That said. Give reason 3 a chance. It is one component i couldn't anymore live without. Important! it is super economic on the CPU ... unlike NI, for example (granted i don't quite compare apples to apples).

I tried the demo like 5 years ago or so, and it was a sad scene on my cheap computer.
I had a decent computer for a while that I got for free, but it died.
Now I have a broken computer(my main computer), a cheap free computer, and a cheaper computer.

I dare you to get a Dr Rhythm 606.
What about one of the Korg Electribe ones, though? I love mine.

The electribe doesn't have the synth bleeps.

I paid $200 for an electribe sampler. I have yet to regret it. For the price I paid it does every thing I want. The sound quality isn't the best but that is what I have Battery for. I think you can get the analog modeling version for even cheaper than that. These things are pretty solid, I've beaten the shit out of mine and it still runs.
