Thinking of adding a hardware compressor to my studio. AT this point i am totally lost as to where even to start.

I guess the question is... what hardware based compressors are poeple using in this forum.

No multiband here! Just the trusty Urei LA3A (the original, not the UA reissue) with the "Bearsville mod". I primarily use it for vocals. The rest of my compression is done with the Powercore stuff. I will probably add the Chandler Limited EMI/Abbey Road TG1 in the near future.

Thank you for the suggestion.... primary i'm looking for non-vocal stuff. i will check out the Urei.

What is the quality/reputation of Tc.Electronics (since Powercore already was mentioned). Powercore appears a bid more on the middle to upper end, it seams?

for starters is the c300 (tc electronics) worthwhile looking into ... it seams well cheap [maybe entry level?] (granted one gets what one pays for). Still!
