Im planning to buy some cheap overdrive/fuzz stomp box to torture some analog bass from my Evolver.

Does anybody here uses distortion/overdrive on hw synths? If so, what can you reccommend (not that expensive). Ive been planning to buy a Boss ODB-3 bass overdrive, or a Big Muff, maybe a PRO-CO rat.
I love anything from warm overdrive to over the top fuzzy sounds. but the big muff seems to be a one trick pony, i would like to have a versatile fx (i mean range from soft to fuzzy overdrive)

Tried lot of the VST plugs out there. I liked the simulanalog suite, some in the guitar rig package, but i think i miss something at the very high end, some smooth shining (buzz/fuzz whatever you call it). But maybe im stupid, and the softwares just as good.

so,
would it sound fatter, with a hw dist pedal, and if so, what can you reccommend.

phew

I have this:

but the original "1995-2000" edition (now discontinued), not this particular refined, 'rationalized' guitar only version. They sound excellent with synths, IMO.

Dirt cheap, and seems rather flexible: http://www.behringer.com/GDI21/index.cfm?lang=ENG
But really, take your synth to a guitar shop / center and try some out. That's the only way to fall in love...

How about one or more of these:

T-Rex Bass Juice- www.asapeurope.com Distortion pedal that's warm and ultra FAT!
Effector 13 Rocket- www.gntguitars.com Classic fuzz from '60s garage band to thick tones w/bottom-end oomph!

MXR Distortion+- www.jhs.co.uk Thick, warm, beefy distortion!

Sometimes I'll plug my Access Virus Kc into a PreSonus BlueTube DP 2-ch tube preamp. It can make my sounds more grity or as smooth as silk depending on the settings. Great for synths!!

Alot of synth players i know tend to like the Metasonix TM1.
I personally like to use the Digitech Grunge. And it's dirt cheap too  .

Also, if you want SERIOUS destruction of your synth's sound, consider these companies:

Death By Audio - http://www.deathbyaudio.net/
Effector 13 - http://www.effector13.com/

Although they may be a tad pricey.
