Here's the deal I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the k2661. Ive been told that this keyboard can take a sample and transpose while keeping the time signature in real time. This is something I've been looking to do for a long time now. If there was maybe some software that can do this that would be a great help however I am doubtful of any software that can do this in real-time.
I read up on this V.A.S.T arch., is this more of a synth capability rather a sampling one?
-any suggestions-

Sorry, my response isn't going to help you: As far as I know, my Kurzweil K2000 does not have that ability. With the introduction of the K2500, one can take the sample input and process it in real time through the VAST engine. So, in other words, if you plug a microphone into the sampler input jack, you can process the mic through the VAST engine in realtime. This is a nice feature, one I wish that the K2000 had. But this just means that you're going through the signal path that the K2500 has already. This feature doesn't imply any type of pitch transposition while maintaining sample length.

This feature could be what you're referring to, but again I can't tell you if the K2661 does exactly what you're describing. The k2500 (and k2600 series) could indeed have what you're describing. Initial gut instinct makes me think it does not, but again, I just don't know.

K2000 and K2500 synths can certainly process live audio if you have the 'sampling option'. I'm not sure whether the K2661 comes with the sampling option out of the box or not. I do know that the K2600XS includes it (that's what the 'S' means). I'd recommend you ask this question of Kurz directly:
