mikebeck wrote:At first, I thought ManyOne wasn't for me since already have EVE 2, but I have to admit, this is pretty neat after having it for a couple days. Plus, I'm a already fan of Luigi and Aldo's work. A quick note: I tend to use Peak Pro 5.2 as a host to experiment with synths and other plugins, and the ManyOne VST crashes the app after switching about 6 waveforms. The AU version seems to work fine. This is on an iMac OSX 10.4.8 machine with 2gb ram, 2ghz Core2Duo. I mostly use AudioUnit plugins, but I will probably upgrade Tracktion to version 3 when its available (Tracktion uses VST only and not AU), and I'll test the VST again and see if it's maybe more of a Peak Pro issue.
And a bump for the ManyTone Acoustic Bass samples - they're fantastic.
Hi Mike
Thanks for the report. This is the first bug report we have had and I have passed it on for Aldo to have a look at.

Glad you are enjoying ManyOne and the new Bass samples. You are not the first to say how nice of an addition ManyOne is, even for folks who own WusikStation or ManyStation or Eve 2. It just provides a different way of working with your samples and perhaps inspires creativity a bit differently also.

Thanks again Mike...I'll get back to you about your report.

I picked up ManyOne last night, and so far, I am enjoying the sounds and the functionality very much. I am running into a problem, though. I am using Live 5 as my host, and I find that when the ManyOne modulator is enabled, I am getting glitches and dropouts. Specifically, after I release chords of 3 or more notes, my CPU load meter makes a major jump (often hitting 90% or higher) and the audio drops out briefly. It is my understanding that ManyGuitar and ManyOne use the same engine, and I have never had this sort of problem with ManyGuitar (even with every effect enabled), so this seems a little unusual. Anyone running into a similar problem?

Apart from this issue, I have been consistently impressed with all ManyTone products (I own 'em all), and I thank Paul and co. for their strong efforts!

Hi tplusj

Thanks for the report I have passed this onto Aldo to look into.

The one thing to note is that the modulator in ManyOne has been developed further since ManyGuitar but it surely should not be doing that. Perhaps tell me A preset that shows it? I can't get ManyOne to go over a couple percent cpu here on an AMD.
You are the first to report this though. What cpu or system are you running on?

Thanks for the comment on our products too.

One thing to check tplusj is the release envelopes on the adsr. For certain sounds they can go quite fast. If set too low though on certain sounds and played fast they could lead to clicks and pops. If you ever hear that on some sounds, try increasing the release envelope a bit. I just tried again here and I cannot get ManyOne to spike CPU at all though. Anyone else?

Thanks for looking into this. I get the same result just about any time that the modulator is enabled; an example of a preset that consistently glitches up is ORG Too Warm ToTc.

I'm using a Pentium 4 (2 GHz) with 512 MB ram. Perhaps the new modulator is just too much for my aging machine, but I haven't had trouble with any other VSTs I've thrown at it.

I'll play around a bit to see if I can stumble upon a solution, and I'll let you know if I succeed.

No way... something is weird there for you as the new modulator is tiny in cpu usage and in no way should you see the spike you say from it. Here I get only 1 - 6 % usage and about 4% on average even when I hammer and hold down 30 notes or more with all FX on.

So, hang in there ...lets look into this.

Yeah, I thought this seemed strange. Actually, the strangest thing about this glitch is, as I mentioned earlier, the CPU spike occurs after I release the notes; as long as I hold at least one note, there is no problem. I'll keep experimenting...

I think this is often overlooked in dealing with virtual instruments, and I was guilty of it myself in regard to ManyOne.
I have, at times, compared it to having multiple guitars. Sometimes, simply switching to another guitar can coax something different from your fingers.

the same has happened to me with ManyGuitar and ManyOne (I think they both use the same engine). only the odd part is it is with modulator and echo enabled, and it only spikes the CPU drastically on note release. it's fine during the attack and sustain...

Are you sure this is happening with ManyGuitar also? It has been reported for ManyOne as we changed the modulator for it. But ManyGuitar has never had a report like this in the year since release with hundreds of users.

We are looking into the ManyOne issue now though so hang in there.

the workaround until this is fixed/addressed is to not use modulator or echo :)

it's still a nice plug for envelopes and outboard effects in the interim :)

if need help testing the fixes, please PM me.

thanks!

The demo version is ready and was about to be released. But 2 people so far have reported the issue above with the full version, so I plan to hold off the demo version release until we sort this issue. I wish I could reproduce it here but I can't, so I am waiting for Aldo to see what he came up with.

I'll let you all know more as soon as I can.
