i dont know if someone already shared this links but here they go the same:
DMX and DX EPROM Images:
http://www.electrongate.com/dmxfiles/eproms.html
Linn EPROM Images:
http://www.electrongate.com/dmxfiles/linn/index.html
eproms are cool since like that you have a 1:1 copy of the samples... its really cool also for getting the original pitch of the drum hits... many kits of digital drum machines are not sampled in the original pitch.
if anyone knows of more eprom images please share. (or also if anyone has sampled kits of drum machines wich are known to be in the origial pitch please share also).

thanks for the simmons link...
"for use in sds-9, sds-7 "
or any other sampler/drum machine that loads samples. just load the .bin files as raw 8 bit unsigned mono in any audio editor and save as wav.

How does one go about doing that? I can't get any audio editor to recognize them as even having audio data.hcv242 wrote:thanks for the simmons link...

something like adobe audition (formerly cool edit pro) or soundforge. You have to import them has it was mentioned earlier. Probably others do it also.

In audacity -> project -> Import Raw Data -> point to and open the .bin file - save as wav.

Was told that distributing samples of his XP-30 is illegal. Out of curiosity what makes Eprom data any different?

Well, possibly a matter of obsolescence and abandonment.
FWIW -although it's a bit of gray area, I only mildly agree with that other thread's conclusions, as the XP-30 is marketed as a synth not a sampler, and I could point you to a buttload of like examples where people/entities have used samples from sample based synths within their offering, and even charged for it.
He was offering samples of the presets not pure rips of the internal rom data, as is here, which imo is a more straitforward case of infringement - but really who cares about claiming rights to these older machines where the company has long passed?
The only difference with the XP-30 is that Roland has shown themselves to care very much about their older machines. As long as a company or rights holder is maintaining their rights then you have a clear case of infringement when someone should choose to counter those rights. Abandoned stuff is fair game imo.

We'll just have to post very slow beat (20 bpm) and people will be able to use the samples.
It's funny that you could do a 20 minutes song using every possible sample of the xp-30 or any other synths and simply post 1 sample on the net and be in infringement.

As the thread was started close to 10 years ago, hope something has happened in the meantime?
Have you tried loading up the images in Kontakt? It can eat a lot of old formats

not a sampler...but you can use this tool (promenade)to make eproms(import wav) or convert eproms to wav so you can use in your favorite sampler:studio4 wrote:Just out of curiosity: Is there another (drum-)sampler that can load EPROMs besides VLinn/VProm?
