I just keep my mic case partially unzipped and slip it over the mic on the stand when i'm otherwise preoccupied
That would be my idea to.

Failing that.

Mental health issues? You mean there are mental health conditions which benefit from copious servings of the de 'erb? A psychosis where you think you're Bob Marley perhaps?

Could you perhaps think you were Timothy Leary and substitute a fistfull of magic mushrooms each morning or use a long straw and a 44 gallon drum of lysergic acid diethylamide? Better for your lungs and your mic capsules.

Mics are always stored in the locker here (under lock and key) unless they are in use.

IVe suffered from various anxiety disorders and other mental problems for 10 years or so (from before i started to smoke). Funnily enough i found that smoking ganja was a much better solution than taking drugs which the doc gave me.
Weed is one of the most useful plants in existance, good for lots of things besides just getting trashed at parties (although obviously its good for that too :hihi: )

There seems to be a fair amount of evidence being racked up that cannabis use can be a causative factor in disorders like anxiety and psychosis. This is particularly so in those who have a genetic predisposition. They have even identified a particular gene marker in the last couple of years - so this may be something that can be tested for in advance.

I am aware that many people being treated with anti-psychotic meds and major tranqs use tobacco and cannabis heavily to ameliorate the effects of the prescription drugs.

As far as manipulating mood with drugs - any drug from caffeine and nicotine up when used seriously is working more or less by overdriving the natural neurotransmitter systems. Stop the drug and you are left with your half clapped out serotonin system (or whatever) and it takes ~ 2 years for your brain to recover to something like normal function. This, I gather, has a lot to do with the difficulty of staying off a drug like tobacco or heroin - you are left feeling pretty crap for a long time, until your own natural biochemical/mood equilibrium returns.

If a user really thinks it is working for them and they have good advice about it then good luck to them but the idea which was prevalent 20 -30 years ago that it is harmless seems to have been debunked - smoking unfiltered joints is damaging your lungs in any case.

Don't be fooled. The negative effects of marijuana as far as exacerbating underlying anxious conditions is nothing compared to the effects of, let's say, working at a stressful job, or having to commute in heavy traffic every morning, or having a drink of alcohol more than once a week. And the effect on lungs is also insignificant compared to the effects of living in an industrial area or driving a car every day.

But the surgeon general won't advise you against working or driving!

And don't even get me started on the whole "gateway" drug BS. If you had to buy potato chips from drug dealers, then potato chips would be a gateway drug. Think about it!

The fact that alcohol is legal and marijuana is not makes NO sense. People damage their health MUCH more with hydrogenated oils.

If you want to argue equivalence you need evidence - hard evidence for example that people who live in industrial areas or drive a car every day die of lung cancer at the same elevated rate as those who smoke. There is no such evidence. And Bob Marley lived to a ripe old age didn't he?

didnt webmd just release a study highlighting no proven link between marijuana and cancer? Bob marley died cause he wouldent get surgury on his foot as per his religion

Aside from dust and smoke particles, you want to protect your condensors from humidity. You should keep your condensor mics in sealed ziplock bags with a package of dessicant in there too -- you know, those "DO NOT EAT" silica gel packs that usually come in electronic product packaging.

(That's why the package has to say DO NOT EAT! For potheads! :P )

Note that you can "recharge" those packs by heating them in a warnm oven for a few hours.

Dynamic mics are probably OK left out though. Just don't smoke while you're singing into them. (Sorry if this wrecks the Peter Tosh vibe you had going. ;) )
