I was thinking of updating to SF8. I downloaded the trial. They still do not have a "save Selection As" function. What I mean is, you highlight a section/portion of a linear session and you save only the highlited section of the wav as it's own file. Does anyone know if this can be done in SF8? I know WaveLab can but it's hard copy only (no purchase then download)and I need this function yesterday.

Not directly but you can copy or cut the selection and paste it to a new window (ctrl+E), then save the new file.

Acoustica has a menu entry "Save Selection As..." in the File menu (http://www.acondigital.com/us_Acoustica1.html).

Conversely, you can highlight the selection and drag it to any open area on the desktop. SF8 is a fantastic app though, even though a couple of things are a little awkward, like the FX bin for real-time processing (which WaveLab does a little more elegantly). Still, highly recommended! Not directly but you can copy or cut the selection and paste it to a new window (ctrl+E), then save the new file
