I'm planning on getting a microphone for my home based studio & I was curious to know the opinion of experienced pros on this also

I will mostly be recording vocals, but there will be some instrumental recordings involved also( Violin, Guitar, Traditional Ins, etc) It being condensor or dynamic doesn't really matter to me; all I want is something that suits my needs perfectly, both vocal & instrumental & something I could rely on for the best quality possible.

Any recommendations?

Since you want the best quality possible and didn't specify price... Neumann U87 is a very popular studio mic. Not a "budget" mic by any stretch, but it should meet your requirements nicely.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Neumann U87 seems to be a good choice, but the price is way too good !!! :o
well, we're looking at around 300$ top

a large diaphragm condenser sounds like it will fit your needs.

Just to mention; I'm not actually looking for something spectacular! Just something that gets me going & leaves the real deal for the real studio u know?

Better say, with these needs & this situation what microphone would to it the best for me with an around 300$ budget?

you can't go wrong with these (see below):

studio projects B1
studio projects B3
MXL 990
MXL V67I
RODE NT1A

plus 1x mic preamp and you've reached your limit
of ~300 (mic+preamp)

Read up on the Rode NT1-A. It's in your price range, and it's a pretty good mic to boot.

$300 I'd recommend getting a Studio Projects C-1 and a pair of Samson CO2's. That gives you an LDC for vocals, reeds etc, and a pair of SDC for stereo micing, great for acoustic guitars, percussion, etc. A single CO2 will do well capturing strings, and a pair for a string ensemble will do very nice.

Having more than one mic gives you more than one flavor of sound, and while inexpensive, these mics are not at all short on quality.

Violet Design Black Knight. You get a lot more for the money with this one.

you might try the Peluso CEMC 6 -

I am leaning towards a matched pair of these for acoustic strings and percussions at the moment, but some of the others already mentioned are also up for consideration.
