Very cool.

master at work.

dunno how the mixdown sounds but dont have time to check it as angel starts in 2 mins, laters hope you enjoy, or at least get an idea of how flexible the loops are :)
Finally listened to this one, after building my new pc. Very nice drone, i like it.

Here is a more serious attempt by me using the sounds, very short currently and unfinished though, i've used also some drum samples in this one.

Okay, finally . . . I've got new web hosting (but no actual html as yet). BUT I can finally share this with you:

Demos of 11 presets made with Absynth3 and this sample set. In this demo I've used no external FX, compression or limiting, so you might need to turn it up a bit. ALL the sounds are loops from this collection, no other samples or oscillators were used.

Note that not all the sounds are ambient. There's a surprisingly dirty, crunchy rhythm track in here as well as washy ambient spaces.

I have enough presets for Absynth3 that I can do another 2 or 3 demos. Just haven't had the time yet.

Enjoy. :D

Indeed. How did you do that?

Enjoy. :D
Very much!

Thanks!

I will get this on my webserver right away.

These are exceptionally nice Absynth 3 patches 8). I'd be most interested in your programming approach with these samples if you'd care to share.

How I did that . . . I must admit that I didn't put a hell of a lot of work into these. I loaded up the default bank, and then replaced all the oscillators with samples from the loop collection. I would then edit the presets, mostly adjusting the oscillator pitch transpositions, modulator settings, mix and stereo placement. Then I'd adjust the FX section. I rarely adjusted the envelopes or LFO settings or anything else.

The dirty rhythm track is based on the Bodran Drum preset. I did tweak the envelopes just a bit on this one, adding a bit more rhythmic variation on oscillators 2&3. I used Wavestation_21, 34 and 11. I don't think I changed the filters or master modifier (waveshaper in this case), though the settings may have been tweaked. The sound has the MultiTap FX on it instead of the MultiComb.

That was it. And the preset is called UncertainPhlegm. 8)

I recorded a MIDI track where a lower key was held, then I'd hit a higher key to add strange and jerky variations.

So glad you like and are adding the demo to your server! I do intend to do examples of the other presets. Have 31 so far.

Thanks, Steve! I think I covered most of it above. Only one preset (not in this sample) did I leave with its original sound. In that case, I needed a more steady unobtrusive sound to bolster the melodic content. I think it was a flute sound I left in. But otherwise, start by replacing the oscillators with these wavs and start playing around. Sometimes I ended up using Granular synthesis instead of a straight wav, but not often as the results tend to be rather unpredictable.

Switching some of the oscillators to mono also made big differences, so if you try it, make sure you give that a whirl, too.

I also keep meaning to try these in Wavesphere, part of Benedict's Synth Studio Pack. That synth lets you modulate one sample with another. Should be interesting.

This demo is really very tasty. Do you have any idea when you will be releasing any of these Absynth patches?

Thanks. I've never tried sharing Absynth presets that are wav based. I assume the wavs aren't saved in the .fxb so you'd have to point them to your copy of these wav files . . . is that easy to do?

I'm no expert, but I think the patch user would need to move a copy of the wavs to the Absynth sample directory, or to a new sub-directory in Absynth Sound Library directory, and adjust the patch to point to this copy.

And here are two more demos of Absynth3 presets using these samples:

part 2, 11 more presets
part 3 and yet another 11 presets

As before, I've used no external FX, compression or limiting. All the presets but one use only loops from this collection (one of the presets in part 2 uses a core Absynth sound, but it's only there to enhance the fundamental tone), no other samples or oscillators were used.

As before, there's a fairly wide diversity of sounds, not all are ambient per se.

Enjoy some more. :D

Wow, emdot, these are really cool. It is amazing how much variety can come from such material when it is handled properly.

I have uploaded them to my site, and will put them on the page when I get the time later today.

I am going to be working with sfz for the next installment of these. I wonder if it is possible to do a conversion?? I am not really sure, because I don't own Absynth, as I just don't have the synth-fu to use it properly.

You, on the other hand, obviously do.
