I got the 1212m, installed it, and everything works great audio software wise (playing MP3's, FL Studio, Audition, etc), but I straight-up cannot:

- watch DvD's
- stream web audio

When I do either the audio makes the classic clicky buffer under run sound that drives me bonkers. Uber-frustrating. This goes for any program (Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Divx, anything).

Checked the site and I couldn't find any type of update or new driver downloads. Anyone else experience this? How could I possibly fix this?

Post

effing A I'm silly I just found the driver update download page. Updating now...

Post

Yes you are funny. Can happen sometimes ;) Being owner of 1820m for years i can say you only best things. And no problem with playback of course... with whatever...

Post

Those drivers should fix the problem. If not, let me know; my 1212m has only really stabilized since I upgraded my PSU and RAM.

Post

Both the newer drivers and the newer "patchmix DSP" client say they can't find a supported product and won't install. WTF, mate?

It's wierd. Videos from Youtube and teh like will stream fine but quicktime audio will not, and DVD's don't really stutter but still click obnoxiously.

Post

Huhn! I gotta say, while most people have a good time with these cards, many have had weird issues pop up. The only thing I've had like this is Foobar will glitch during playback, and only Foobar, not WMP or Winamp. I haven't had a chance to check since I upgrading my shit...

Post

You have a new 1212m, without the firewire port. You installed the driver for the old version, which will not work. The driver on the CD is still the latest.

BTW, there is no way you could've known that from E-MU's documentation or website. Isn't it nice when manufacturers make everything easy an clear?

Post

try setting the internal clock in patchmix to 48 from 44.1 see if that stops the clicking

I gave up on my 1820m...it just wouldn't work with my new machine.

I have the same problem with my 1212m, thought it was me as I am not very savy about this stuff. It is especially bad when trying to record audio.

What's your PSU's Wattage? I'm pretty convinced you have to have above-average power supply to fix problems with these cards; it's like night and day with me since I upgraded the PSU from 300 to 500. Last night, for the first time, I was running a full Cubase project, tracking guitar with amp sims and synths at 4ms latency, no glitches whatsoever.

I also upped my RAM and got it going in Dual Channel, and got an nVidia GeForce 7600 and threw my ATI Raedon in the garbage (had nothing but problems with ATI), so that may have helped too. Basically, I did all the shit I should've done a long time ago to get my computer up to speed, and the card is in heaven now. EMU's are notorious for needing a clean system; I recall Whyterabbit specifically warned me about that while recommending the card.

So now may be the time to finally commit to those upgrades.

EDIT for content, thanks WR.

I really hope you mean 'wattage' and 300W versus 500W.

Yes! Of course! :o

Sorry, it's before coffee time out here. And how did you know I was talking about you?

And that's as long as it takes for me to say something wrong. ;)

So the EMU is totally rock-solid now. I was starting to look at other interfaces, but I really think it was an under-powered computer all along. I'll bet this is an area a lot of audio guys overlook. It's also much easier to change a PSU than I though, took about 1/2 hour! Totally worth it. :D :tu:
