Hello,

Yes, I know it has been asked a million times before, but which monitors do I buy? I have narrowed the choice down to two based on various reviews. I realise that you have to audition monitors before you buy, but that is not possible as the music shops where I live or even far from where I live don't stock them. I will be buying them via mail order. So hopefully someone out there has either got them or heard them.

The choices are:

EVENT ALP 5 190 x 266 x 228 mm (WxHxD)

or

ALESIS M1 Active 520 165 x 267 x 197 mm (WxHxD)

Their main function is to serve as a second pair of reference monitors. I already own the Mackie 824. I want them to be small.

I don't want to get the Genelec 8020 as they are double (or more) the price of the ones above and I don't want to spend that much on a second pair of reference monitor (though they are a perfect size).

I have heard the KRK R series, but I didn't like them. They sounded thin and lacked clarity.

If you can suggest something other than the above, please do, but they must not be much bigger in size.

Thanks

You probablyh think the Rockits are thin because of the shitty hyped bass on the 824's. Their active/passive woofer design IMHO sucks, and is so out of time. If you listen you can clearly distinguish between the active (front woofer) and the passive radiator in the rear. I personally would be considering new main monitors before a second pair to compare with them. Check out the JBL LSR series.

You can't judge that without listening...
Can you order both and return one set (or both) within a week??
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
