Sampletank continuous looping???

I wasn't sure if I should post this in Instruments or here....perhaps Squids or someone here can help me. I've owned Sampletank for 2 or 3 years now, and its my sampler of choice for most of my projects. I have one question that's really been bugging me. How do I get an imported sample to loop continuously? What I mean is, for example....if you load a native Sampletank preset or Sonic Reality instrument, say a string or pad sound....if I press a key, the note will keep playing continuosly for as long as that key is pressed. My question is this....if I import a wav I have prepared...say its a pad, and its cut at the proper loop points...how do I get Sampletank to perpetually loop the sample? I can't figure out for the life of me how to do this. Can anyone help?

Thanks, though I dislike the sound of Kontakt....There's a warmth, weight, and presence to Sampletank that I prefer, IMHO. If Sampletank can read loop points with imported Akai samples, why not with wav as well? Is there any third-party software that one can use?

So far, just trial and error with a wave editor set on looping and adjusting the start/end points until its smooth. I don't know how to add in/out points like you mentioned, or what software would enable me to do so. Got any tips on that?

Kim....mostly I try to create unique, sound design type-samples. Stuff I can turn into dark ambient pads and things by manipulating found sounds or self-recorded samples with the stretch engine, or various effects....( I love the sound of sampletank's filters)

vespers75 - do you have access to any application which will allow you to export akai format soundsets?
The reason I ask is that if the loops are recognised within the akai soundsets during import in ST2, that might give you the solution you're looking for - even though it is an extra step.

mw - I use a pc, and I use either my DAW (Cakewalk) or Creative Wave Editor to trim my sounds.
Caleb - No, I don't have any apps that will export Akai, but you're right...that might be a work-around, if I could find a program that would create Akai format reliably.

Check out Chicksys Translator Free.
http://www.chicksys.com
I don't know exactly what the limitations of the free version are, but given that your requirements are fairly simple it might be OK for you. In any case, it's free so give it a go.
Also I think I recall that AWave Studio demo version has some abilities that might get you by without the need to purchase - although that's a bit more unethical I guess.

There are probably small freeware utilities that could give you what you need as well, but I'm not 100% sure. You might need to do a bit of searching.

try Wavosaur since it's free to create your loop points http://www.wavosaur.com/ you will need to have your loop points in place before converting them in any program. if you want an all in one solution, loop points/converter/vst&hardware sampler, try Extreme Sample Converter http://www.extranslator.com/

I know it's not your fault Kim but: I've placed three "support tickets" at IK's website regarding import in ST. Never received a reply. Is it too much to ask for such trivial features likeKim (esoundz) wrote:I don't think SampleTank2 recognises loop points in imported audio files. It's better suited for importing phrases for processing with Stretch and the ST2 effects.
- import of loop points
- import of BPM and key values from Acidized WAV files
in a fairly expensive piece of software that claims to be a "sample workstation"?
Don't get me wrong, I love ST but I cannot find an excuse for such limitations.

Loop points of wav files are imported, i'm sure they are because I have done it before. I think i used wavelab or soundforge to set the loop points, saved and imported into sampletank. worked perfectly.
