i do work in phases. i'll implement ten things, use xhip for a while, fix a few things, then lose interest. a few weeks later the process starts over.
i wouldnt mind implementing something specific if you're wanting something specific. the gui and event routing / wave editing / unison parameter diffusion are all off limits though, since they require work to be done with the gui. that just takes a long time. anything else is ok though.

sounds like a healthy process to me. not constrained or driven by profit, deadlines or any other artificial constraints. I write code as well, and I have done some of my best work in that state of mind. Many thanks for sharing your work, very nice.aciddose wrote:i do work in phases. i'll implement ten things, use xhip for a while, fix a few things, then lose interest. a few weeks later the process starts over.

Well, just to throw something, what about keytracking for the second filter? If that will be possible with the event routing never mind.aciddose wrote:i wouldnt mind implementing something specific if you're wanting something specific.
Another thing is that I wish for a way to automatically compensate the supersaw/unison detuning.

"keytracking for the second filter"
since i've already placed the parameter, this is easy.

what do you mean "automatically compensate" ?

Do you plan on adding a mod section for the 2nd filter ?
I've found myself wishing it had one more than a few times, that'd be great...
cheers

it would make xhip 33% slower, and beside that, no. that kind of thing is what you'll be able to do in a modular synth. wiht xhip, i plan on removing some things actually.

thanks, acid. I kind of expected that fast reply
My English fails me here, so I'm going to try to explain it graphically. Can't you do something like this?
Yeah, I mean, when you use unison, each voice is detuned upwards, so the overall pitch of the sound usually gets higher (detuned). You can solve this manually by lowering the tune slider.aciddose wrote:what do you mean "automatically compensate" ?

Code: Select all
--------|-------> pitch
no unison --------O--------
2x O---------------O
3x O-------O-------O
4x O----O-----O----O
5x O---O---O---O---O
...
O = voice

Hi aciddose
I recently discovered xhipeffects filter and have been extremely impressed with the sound quality - such a smooth, great sounding filter. It definitely deserves more mention round here. Haven't tried the other effects yet but the filter has convinced me to try them to. Thanks for your hard work!

it doesnt really make much of a difference. here, i've used the average in pitch to offset and "center" the frequencies around the note's main frequency. it will only balance out the way you show with the unison diffusion set to 1.0, the supersaw never will since it is fixed with distribution=0.5.

Unison detuning is definitely better this way, thanks!

man, tanks for making adxhip (and porting it to Linux).
i find it amassing synth. Also, i find (on XP), your FX
collection really good sounding (especially chorus which sounds very Roland-ish).
Now, i see that there is no GUI on the FX, so is there any chance for you to
compile them for Linux? It would be .so nice.

.so nice, haw haw. yeah i'll get to that, but it is quite a bit of effort to get the stuff arranged to compile all the effects. i havent even written the makefile for windows yet, i havent updated the set of effects for pretty much two years.

I cannot believe how XHip sounds through an amp... it's The Shit! it's quite organic by itself, but through an amp - it's a riot
. can't believe this is coming from a computer GD
.
errrr... I don't remember if someone has asked you this before, but do you have any plans of porting this baby for Linux? Just curious. It'd be so nice if more people like you ported their work for Linux, too.
Cheers!
