Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some piece of software that would play my own samples (say some heavily processed reverse acoustic guitar sounds etc) but gives me a lot of freedom to manipulate every instance of the sample it plays. Something like that.
I use them as rhythmic elements but they also have melody, so I though there might be a very good drum machine that gives you a lot of freedom in terms of processing the sound it plays. (e.g. the reason drum machine feels kinda rigid) or a sequencer that helps you use these samples as rythmic elements

Fruity Loops sequencer is excellent...but as far as audio editing, i dont care for it much...but i havent tried fruity loops 7, which has a new audio editor built in...so..not sure....i do my editing with adobe audition...then import it into fruity loops...

Try ableton Live. demo is full function, just no saving. You can record a guitar part, reverse it (or many other manipulations), then drag and drop any or all of it into a sampler or 'drum' machine (impulse) from the arrangement view with minimal effort.

The absolute best tool I've found for heavily manipulating samples rhythmically with detailed control over every parameter of every sample and every note is a tracker. There is simply nothing out there that gives you such immediate control over the finest details of sample sequencing and manipulation as a tracker. It takes a little getting used to, but once you understand the basic concepts of tracking it's a very straightforward and powerful tool.
My absolute favorite tracker is Renoise which supports audio recording directly into the integrated sampler, as well as VST instruments and effects which can be triggered and automated to the finest detail. I highly recommend that you check it out.
What makes trackers so powerful for sample manipulation is that a huge amount of parmaters can be directly applied to any single sampler event by simply adding and manipulating four digit hex code attached to the event. I know this must sound confusing, but it's very easy once you get the hang of it. Most people using trackers compose entire songs in them, just like in a traditional sequencer. I personally can't stand to do whole songs in them, but find trackers to be one of the most powerful tools ever created for complex and experimental sample manipulation.
