Don't forget that when one talks about "correct", period and style does matter. In contemporary music, parallel fifths are not considered so bad thing and are more tolerable, so it would be too hard to say this is a sin or mistake in that case.

Agreed absolutely. But if CdB was an example of someone chock full of theory, he wouldn't have written that. I thought vurt mentioned him as an example of someone who writes crap music even though following all the rules.
