I put together a little video to show most of the features currently implemented in Scratcher. It's not complete, and it's not my most eloquent, but I think it shows quite a bit.

I'm thinking of replacing the out-dated manual with video tutorials instead. Comments?

very welldone vid, it felt like i got way more out of it than 10minutes and nothing but good instruction, i don't know about scratching with your app, but i'm for sure gonna use it as a sample mangler, its very very good. thanks for making it. and the ability to save mangler templates is rediculous good job man really

kool!

just used the latest vst version & its letting me run two different scratchers in eXT 8)

at some point will the wave file be able to reload on opening a saved host project file?

this app is already well cool & with rendering its verru useful!!

thank you :)

excellent, this is something really required that hadn't been catered to in the vst world. i do a lot of experimental turntablism and more traditional scratching too, i even use mspinky... you know what that is? timecoded vinyl in max/msp environment. i'm/i'll brainstorming/brainstorm ways to integrate it with this app, there are so many possibilities combining timecoded vinyl, especially with maxes decoding of the data and what could be done with it and your algorithms, they don't sound as digital as i expected, fairly impressive, what max object are you using for the waveskimming? are you open to feature suggestions? i could come up with a whole bunch of things that would be incredible additions for this app/max patch/vst... good work so far, it's quite impressive overall, not just the wave algorithm, especially the warp markers of the paste selection mode... there are, however, some features that could make it phenomenal as opposed to just incredible that are excluded (or maybe just not implemented yet, but i don't want to go through all the trouble of an idea conjuration session if development is closed :P let me know!

This is just a quick note that I updated the VST version on my website to the version used in the video (0.75). It now runs as a VSTi instead of an effect, and has the added wave markers in the video. I also put up a zip file of some common basic scratches that are useful for pasting.

Edit: Standalone version also updated!

It's letting you run two different Scratchers?? Did it let you load different audio files into each one? I'm trying to get multiple instances working in Cubase SX3, but so far I'm getting all kinds of crashes once I load a second instance.

There are DEFINITE plans to save settings for reloading (current wave file, current scratch, current midi setup, etc), it's just a matter of time.

yes, i had two instances playing different wav files & with different scratches playing,

try in energyXT as a host, both load & play fine here,

...wonderful tutorial and some very intelligent features :!: - can't wait to test the final version...

...too bad you can't sell FL Studio for its Wave-Traveller is almost the only thing I'm using there...

...but please, make it skinable :D...

Wow, you put in a lot of great features into this plugin, skrasms! I have toyed with FL Studio's Wave Traveller, which has the same basic setup as your plugin, but you've added some really nice features to give a lot more control over what you're doing. I'm off to download this plugin now - I didn't realize how cool it was until you posted this video! Great work!

I love the line guides which are sloped properly to help you judge playback speed - that's a great idea. I would love to see some kind of "snap to slope"...although I'm not sure how exactly it should work.

Actually, there is a snap-to-slope feature implemented right now. If you have an interval chosen then try holding shift or alt while you drag a point around in the editor. I think I have it set so shift locks relative to the point to the left of what you're dragging, and alt locks to slope from the point on the right.
