Make sure to spend time getting everything set up and understood at least to a basic point. Then go at it and experience what it can really do for you. I think alot of people are turned off from the initial learning curve. But once you get past that it just makes sense

I can see what you are getting at,

For me though, I had flow from the word go!

Still have a lot to learn but could lay down an idea really quickly

Ok, so Ive set up podium at my girls house (so I can get away and make beats) and its simple config, but no keyboard controller, no biggie, I'm just gonna fire off some samples, have a lil minimal fun, but is there any way to get the piano roll view W/O inputing notes (cause Im not able to put notes in w/o a keyboard!!)?? I don't want to buy a keyboard and Tobybears on-screen midi keyboard ain't doin the do with Podium (Ill do one thing at a time, right now I just wanna put in beats!) Im very familiar with Cubase and Sonar, so I'm sure i know whats what with what but I cant find a way to input notes with out physically inputting notes!

You need to assign an instrument to the track, create an clip/event, double click it and you'll get a piano roll where you can click to add notes

I work like that all the time, having no keyboard I can use!

From what I read on the forum, Frits has been wanting to implement ReWire, but the Props won't get back to him.

Maybe we can all beg the props to help him out?

Thanks for the reply, but Ive done that, and when i pull up the 'embedded editor' I just get a view of audio events (of course there are no events), not midi events, so no piano roll. Am I missing something?

Even if you do it on a brand-spanking-new fresh track, with the audio engine on? If you don't have the audio engine on, there might be a difference..

I've always done that with it working.. If still no joy, not contact frits, or register and post on the forum..

Arrgh! This isn't that hard! I should note I'm using the CM magazine version (1.77) but that shouldn't make too much of a diff. Ive done this exactly the way you've noted, engine on and off, fresh new track each time. All I get is a 'drawing' view that I can dram in squiggly lines with the pencil, as if i was drawing in cc changes. No piano view. There isn't a way to just call the piano roll up? A shortcut maybe? I'm only doing this cause I'm staying with my girls for the weekend, and I need some beats!! Not to mention i want to play with CM Zebra!!!

Wait i got it!! hehe I was checking off audio track when i made a new track, and I gues sthat shifted things to audio editing mode, thereby no midi. Thanks for your help now I can get to f**king around!!

I must say that Podium kinda grows on you. And the future roadmap looks great. The NUMBER ONE THING that I would want added is Rewire Slave support. I'd love to be able to wire this into Tracktion. It's not a dealbreaker, but would sure help to make the sale for me(once money comes, that is).

Ihave tried Podium several times; the latest demo was the first time it 'clicked'.

I think it is a capable host, a little odd as well - I mean the setting-up seems weird!

It has a nice piano-roll as well!

Well, of course it doesn't keep EVERYONE. I think he was just using a figure of speech, since many T users do stay.

I must say that I look at new hosts all the time. I have looked at Reaper, Live, lite versions of the larger apps, and others. NONE of them seemed to work like Podium does. Stability, along with fantastic looks, and logical interface and signal flow(once you get used to it), these things all seem to just work better then other options I've tried. I personally have had a better experience then others. I have TRIED again and again to get into Reaper, and the thought has even entered my mind that I might want to buy a copy. But it just didn't seem to fit, and I kept waiting for SOMETHING to happen to make it work for me.

For some reason though, Podium worked great. It's got a polish to it and I just get that "feeling" of stability. Nothing against the other apps, of course, but Podium just gave me that feeling. You know the one I'm talking about? Hard to describe, but it's there.

So hopefully some money will open up soon, as I'd like to support this even if just to help get Podium to where I can use it in Tracktion.

I'm very impressed with Podium
