i can't understand why korg doesn't include a midi out port. if they did, i'm sure more people would buy this unit...

Erm, it already has MIDI ports. In and out.abi wrote:i can't understand why korg doesn't include a midi out port. if they did, i'm sure more people would buy this unit...

It takes about 10 seconds to load and it does stop playback...can't do it on the fly.JonathanDragonDJ wrote:how long does it take to load a new bank from the memory card...and can the unit still function while it's doing this or does it lock up.....

Yay! Got my mini-KP today, and direct from Tokyo it seems. Even came with a set of AA batteries. Looks neat, quite compact. As long as it does the same granular effects as its bigger brother I'll be a happy puppy...

So, what value both a KP3 and a Mini-KP? Just for portability, or does the wee one offer something a little different?whyterabbyt wrote:Yay! Got my mini-KP today, and direct from Tokyo it seems. Well, the Mini-KP just offers the effects section. No sampling, no MIDI. But there's quite a few of the onboard effects that I really quite like (some of the granular effects, for example), particularly the way they're so 'playable' via the pad, and only being able to use one instance was slightly disappointing. So for me its actually about it being 'the same'.shamann wrote: So, what value both a KP3 and a Mini-KP? Just for portability, or does the wee one offer something a little different?
For example, running the KP3 into the Mini means I can (say) build a destructively-processed loop via the KP3's resampling functions, and still have the ability to post-effect that loop live and non-destructively with the same set of effects.
And yes, the portability is rather handy as well.

along with the fx does the mini also have any of the onboard sounds? specifically the thereminesque ones
altho just as an fx unit the kaoss would be interesting...

I just put my KP3 to work, I have assigned the pad to control the vector on my Wavestation vst and Wusikstation vst. Then I record a circular pad motion and let play, as I go through the presets I get to hear them morphed from all 4 corners/sources without lifting a finger.

Sorry, missed this. Bout 2/3 of the size, I reckon. I'll see if I can measure it properly, if I can find a ruler.shamann wrote:That makes sense, now that you mention.
How much smaller is the pad/screen area on the mini?
Yeah, there's about 10 synth-type patches on the mini.vurt wrote:along with the fx does the mini also have any of the onboard sounds? specifically the thereminesque ones

might nip to soundcontrol and have a play with one, altho im sorely tempted by the 3, the 2 is nice but those upgrades sound well worth having both
