let me know if a stenographer is needed :hihi:
There have been a few attempts at user written manual none have done very well. It's just too much work. I think a sticky where people can just ask questions would be a lot more informative.

I've got no time to write a manual personally but I can always take time to answer a question or two.
A sticky would be nice, and it is just a good thing for us Vsamplists to be in touch and exchange information. Do you ever go to the Maz forum or check out any of the VSampler talk at Cakewalk?

I guess we don't really need a sticky just get 1-2-Many to rename the thread to "Unofficial VSampler Help Desk" or something like that and let it bump.

No. I don't have time for for stuff like that. I've been here years now and I'm still under 600 posts. I don't usually need a lot of help learning new software, being happy with it is quite another thing. I'll be happy to check in here amd share Vsampler tips though.

I keep telling myself that I need to spend more time with Vsampler "the instrument". It should be the most powerful loop factory on the planet but I guess I'm just not much of a loop guy. I'd be suprised if anything replaced Vsampler as my main instrument construction tool though.

It's another step but TBH I've got my entire sample lib running on the Wusik/ExSC combo. IMO it's usually got a better sound than sfonts and lower CPU too. I can run a bunch and it's all ultra stable. It's hard to argue with sucess.

I broke up all my sfonts into instruments. All of my sounds are seperate and I'm free to arrange them any way I want. Not that HD space is a issue these days but sometimes I'd like to delete crap I'm never going to use.

I can't help but like sfonts though. I've still got my lib and still adding banks from my old sample CD collection. I built a pretty nice player. I've got a newer version that I'll try to get online but if anyone wants the old one they can grab it here.

BTW - Ran across this blurb touting Vsampler on sonicimplants.com, in respect to software that imports Soundfonts most accurately.
Software Recommendations
If you are going to be using a software synth on a PC, Sonic Implants recommends using Vsampler 3. It does an excellent job of importing all the programming parameters accurately. It includes VSTi and Dxi compatible plug-ins, plus a stand-alone application.

Wow! - VSampler's Autolooping is spectacular! It's consistently nailed all the loop points in some very complex loops.
I'm Sold!

Is there any way to apply the same envelope to all instruments or all zones, rather than setting each one individually?

Just discovered how to auto-loop all zones in a multisampled inst at once - Within VS screen select the instrument - set browser on the right to "Zones of Instrument", select all zones shown in browser, then right click on them and select Sustain loop-> then choose your looping method - It crunches for a short time and then you're done - All looped!

*edit - this can also be done within the "Instruments of Library", and "Samples of Library" browser settings. The added functionality here is that you can select all or a group of samples/instruments (using ctrl-click or shift-click) and process them all at once. I haven't tried doing this on large selections - so be warned it could take awhile!

Also discovered that you can audition a loop while dragging its loop points, realtime! Now that's a great looping tool right there.

Make sure that you have All zones selected(see buttons for zone select on the upper right)and the envelope and filter values will apply to all. However, when you wish to freeze a filter, you must do it for each sample. Same for effects applied at the zone level. Filters per zone, effects per zone, freeze(which is actually rendering, you have to save the edited samples and you can't un- and re-do like a host freeze function) coupled with the ability to host VST effects is one of the more powerful features of the instrument.

I never knew that about batch autolooping. This is exactly why we need this thread. Good work, 1-2 Many. With VSampler's state of undocumentation, we can all teach each other no matter what our experience level.

Hey np bbj - just glad to be able to return the favor. ;)

Here's one for the 'HelpDesk':
Is there any way to set the default loop type when auto looping to 'until release' rather than 'endless' as it is now? And....relatedly, since I autolooped all my zones, they're now all set to 'endless', any way to batch change them all to 'until release'?

* Edit, I discovered how to batch-change the loop type per instrument....In the VS window view, with the 'Samples' display showing, set the browser to select 'Samples of Library' (or 'Instruments of Library'). Click on one of the samples in the instrument, (or instrument if that's your browser setting), then click the 'All' button just above the browser - it should turn orangish meaning it's active, then in the sample view select your desired sustain loop - this now sets the selected loop method for all the samples in the instrument....How's that for answering my own question? ;) I do still need to know if it's possible to set default loop type when auto looping - anyone?

BTW - Who's manning the helpdesk tonight? :D

Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy!   I didn't know that ether. How cool it that?

I would have said thanks sooner but I ripped my d's patch bank and auto-looped the whole bunch today. It was so easy. Thank you! Thank You! Here my new 16 patch LA sound module. Caution 120Mb. For how long the BW lasts anyway.

Oh... I might do some esq or matrix6 tomorrow.

Bump. Hmmm...just discovered this - I expected a lot more posts.

I keep hoping more VSampler users will post here. The MAZ/VSampler site is a mess.

Does anyone know what's happened over at the VSampler site? As we all know, the spam has been going on for some time, and there is rarely a post from Maz. On the other hand, they keep the site up. Has anyone here had any direct contact with the company?

Apparently, you can still buy the program, but it's stange that they haven't even posted a notice explaining that there has been some kind of emergency.

I worry because VSampler was my first softsampler or sampler, and it still has the best filter controls and one of the best mod matrix configurations. Also great to press F keys to move around in the program.

And I must admit that I was surprised, after doing a search in this forum and the Instruments forum, about how little dscussion there is about VSampler: I found around 80 posts altogether that just mention the program.

A last question? Would an attempt to start a separate forum here at KVR be good? Now, this thread is buried. A separate forum would let people find this discusson easily.
