Casio VZ-1 vsti

Yay! A Casio VZ1 was my first synth, I used to get some mental noises out of it by throwing too much midi at it from Cubase1's midi fx processor. It was a much under-rated synth, I think people of the day tended to think that anything with the word Casio on the front of it had to be a bit shit, but it was every bit as good as a DX7 imho.
Them were the days.

No not really
Never said it was accurate nor did I make it is just called the CZ-400 and it actually sounds rather good even if it doesn't actual model a real CZ.

PlastiCZ anyone?

Thing is, the CZ range of synths sounded different to the VZ synths (VZ 1, VZ10M and VZ8M). Although they were both based on Phase Distortion, the VZ range had a lot more tricks up it's sleeve than the CZs. It's a real shame that Casio stopped making those synths - I guess there's more money in cash registers [ha ha ha... geddit..?]

A good Casio CZ Inspired Dual Line Phase Distortion Synthesizer :
SONIC ASSAULT Kassiopeia!
Thank you very much !
SONIC ASSAULT Kassiopeia!
Where can I find your VZ tutorial ?Summa wrote:Do you have my VZ tutorial? It's in its early stage but explains how to convert FM Sounds to the VZ and how to fade between ringmod and AM, what hopefully makes understanding the system behind the synth a little easier...
When it comes to the stuck notes, make sure the end level is 0 for every END Stage of every Mx Envelope that isn't set to Phase.
Thank you very much !

And imagine if they would have made version with knobs! Tweaking envelopes with sliders / buttons would be orgastic! Compared to clicking and pushing buttons..Andywanders wrote:Thing is, the CZ range of synths sounded different to the VZ synths (VZ 1, VZ10M and VZ8M). Cheers,
Nobody prevents somebody to create dedicated hardware sysex controller for it if casio is not interested..
And for TX81Z, DX11 etc..
General MIDI controllers are OK but can't beat dedicated ones with text for every button / knob.

+1 for Digital, it may not be an emulation but I think it can get pretty close.
I'd also love to see a proper emulation of at least one Casio PD synth, preferably with SysEx import and stuff, I mean how hard can it be?
The market is flooded with emulations of analog synths, but purely digital synth emulations are almost non-existent (excl. Yamaha FM stuff).
I'd love to see some Casio, Kawai, etc emulations!

While we're at it, u-he is going to release a *modular* FM/PM/PD synth some time later this year. Or maybe next yera. Depends
This Is Serious Mum.
(IIRC iPD is basically a combination out of PD with Phase Modulation, Ringmodulation and Amplitude Modulation, so we can safely say that a modular PD/PM/FM synth does iPD)

In case if were still waiting for a software version of the iPD synth to come out or if it will ever come, I want to inform you and everyone that a new set of casio VZ patches are now here and wait till you hear them. Replicated asian instruments and ethnic sounds that should be worth hearing. All on sysex and one of them is called cliffs4.5ethno right here at:
