Directwave realtime sampling

cYrus - at the risk of looking like a fool because you are being ironic - I will assume that your question is genuine.
the whole POINT of directwave is that it is a sampling instrument.

it seems like you don't get the point.
why does it make no sense to sample a hardware synth instead of a native vst plugin? hardware synths are physical limited with the possible voices and outputs and you can't just enhance them with more "power". so it would be very useful to sample a dsp driven synth which can't do offline rendering and only supports realtime.
hopefully everything is clear now. :\

cYrus, Directwave HAS an audio IN. In energyXT you can just create a keyzone, connect one of your Audio Inputs to Directwave's Audio In and record manually into the keyzones in the sample area. I don't know how you do it for other hosts, perhaps by sticking DirectWave into an effect slot. Perhaps someone could elaborate, but DirectWave is a sampler in the very traditional sense of the word.
If your hardware synth's output is connected to your soundcard as an input, then you should be able to record into DirectWave directly.
I'm wondering if you're looking at the VSTi recorder in the Options page? That's something else.

You might also want to look into Extreme Sample Converter which can automate the conversion from hardware synths to sample formats that Directwave can read.

I usually never argue against scuzzphut but.. Is it a bit on the tedious to set up each zone 1st then sample to them? Would I have to manually stop and setup and start for each keyzone? For me it's all about smooth workflow.. I just want to play the synth, record to soft sampler and have it all setup.. This is what turned me off of the Directwave demo (effect version) in the 1st place (unless I missed something)..
cYrus question? Are you looking to just port the access virus (full octaves/banks etc) to directwave? Or are you looking to play parts and convert these played parts to samples/phrases??

@fandango, i mean the VSTi recoder and no, it's not something else in the case of a access virus ti. why? because it's a hardware synth with a complete VSTi. BUT it doesn't allow to sample in offline mode and only supports realtime.
@Lagrange: yes, i want to sample complete full octaves from the virus with the VSTi recoder and not manually do the whole thing.
basically all i'm requesting here is a checkbox on the vsti recorder which is called: "record in realtime"

If your looking for something so you can just push one button and you'll have a cloned Virus it ain't going to happen. Like ever.
Sampling a synth has lots of drawbacks and some stuff can't even be recreated with a sampler. To begin with you need a shitload of samples to even remotely recreate something like a Virus. And you probably want to loop the samples. Something that must be done manually in order to get quality loops.
So it's not as straightforward as one might think.
And why do you even want to. The TI has 80 voices. Surely you dont run out ?
EDIT: And if you are, why don't you just record the track as audio ? A lot simpler and a lot less timeconsuming.
As for the actual question,i can't help you with that. Never used the DW. Sorry.

cYrus, IMO DW is not the best choice for this (again IMO).. What jupiter8 said is true (unfortunatly), It's pretty much impossible to get the virus down 100%.. At best you'll be creating a huge snapshot.. ESC as fandango suggested is really good.. Also Emu Emulator X2 is pretty good at converting banks etc.. Also take a look at OneShotRecorder (I was kinda dissapointed with this purchase tho)..

the point I was making - and , yes, rtfm was a bit brutal (apologies) - is that directwave was marketed as a sampling sampler and that a quick check of the docs would explain how to sample an audio input.
