hey guys-
used shortcircuit as my sampler but now im moving to mac... what would be good for a sampler? i want something that can create VIs by mapping a single sample note up and down the octaves so that I can make a whole instrument out of one sample note. i also want something that can cut up the sample. i want something that is easy to use and cheap. i dont need kontakt for 600 bucks with a huge library of sounds... just want a simple sampler that does the job! suggestions? needs to work with mac...
thanks

Cameleon 5000 would be one possibility. Not really a sample-player, but it will resynthesize your keyranged samples.
Another possibility is either DimPro or Rapture. The first has a 7GB library (half the size of K2), the latter doesn't really come with a sound bank, but can use sfz-mapped samples that you provide. I have both, and while I don't use Rapture much, DimPro is my "goto" rompler.
If you keep your PC around, you can run EXSC on it to convert/map samples, too.

I don't think that Dim Pro or Cameleon are what he is asking.
Somebody asked about this before and the conclusion was that there isn't a good alternative to SC on Mac, sadly.
(SC2 is looking really good BTW, and Dimension Pro compliments its well, because SC2 will be able to import it's content easily. But of course, that does you no good

ST2 is not much less expensive than K2, either on crossgrade or new purchase. It has an easier interface, is RAM-based (no streaming) and reportedly does not import as well on its own (on Windows, I'd use EXSC to convert to ST format).
