Cool! 8)

I'm trying this out ASAP.All the soundfonts I've ever tried of bagpipes sounded like shit and I wasnt prepared to shell out $$$$ for some commercial library full of other ethnic instruments i'd never use.

a BagPipes update is available:

www.soundbytes.de/BagPipes/?download

If you already have installed an earlier version you can also download the zipped dll only:
http://www.soundbytes.de/BagPipes/downl ... 0.9.20.zip (1.2MB)

Changes in version b0.9.20

New Feature:
The section in the lower right corner of the panel serves now as a value display for the knob controls. (also allows numerical value input)

Minor changes:
  • the readme file contains now a complete description of the panel controls. (a help file illustrated with screenshots is coming soon)
  • Bag off behavior - when 'bag off' is activated midi notes will not trigger the instrument as long as the bag controler is set to zero. (mod wheel turned all down)
  • Vibrato control - the vibrato depth is initially set to zero. Use the assigned midi controler to switch the vibrato on. (vibrato is on when no Midi controler is assigned.)
  • Outputs have been renamed to 'Pipe1/2' and 'Pipe3/4'

I must say I'm not very happy with how quickly the demo shuts down. I just start getting an idea of which sounds I like, play with the knobs a lil bit and POOF!

Since I cant even be sure if I like it yet, I guess I wont be getting it. :?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the comment. I have to admit I took the demo time from the HurdyGurdy instrument and did not give it another thought. I understand that the BagPipes Demo session needs to be longer since there is no unrestricted light version coming with this instrument.

The demo period is now more than doubled.
Please download the new verion from here:
http://www.soundbytes.de/BagPipes/downl ... 0.9.25.zip

Usage:
(1) overwrite the BagPipes.dll that was created during installation with the updated version from the BagPipes-b0.9.25.zip.
(2) Delete the .sem files from the bagpipes folder next to the bagpipes.dll. (you can skip this step if your computer does not have a multicore cpu)
(3) ready!

We are happy and proud to announce that dedicated synthie piper Felyon has contributed an outstanding demo that makes extensive use of our new instrument. (He is also a regular contributor to this forum btw.)

Listen to the sound of virtual BagPipes.

Great one, Andreas! 8)

we have another audio demo:
  • Heidenspass
The tune is a sneak preview of Felyons forthcoming third Album.
And Yes, version 1.0 RC1 is available now:
www.soundbytes.de/BagPipes/?download

This release includes a number of important changes and bug fixes:
  • vibrato shape: use this newly introduced knob to change the shape of the vibrato waveform from a rounded (parabolic) shape to a more edgy, square like one. The new square setting works very nicely to imitate the typical 'fluttering' piper vibrato that is created by quickly opening and closing soundholes at the bottom end of the chanter pipe.
  • An inverse knob is now also available for the bag pressure sub panel.
  • A helpfile has been added.
  • the sample loader does not block the audio engine anymore. Please note that this new feature has not yet been tested throughly on a greater number of computers. Please be careful when using the BagPipes instrument in its current preliminary stage. Please save your work regularely and report any inconviniences you may encounter to support@soundbytes.de

Thank you Andreas,
didn't see this thread before.
Maybe you should announce Bagpipes in the instruments forum too.

Bagpipes VSTi is something I've been waiting for long time.
It became even better than my expectations.
Great work, so what will come next?

BTW, "Heidenspass" translated "pagan fun" means the same as jamboree, an excessive party.

Have fun

Yes and no, I surely have in mind to include two further soundsets in a future version of the Soundbytes BagPipes:
(1) Great Highland Pipes and
(2) Uilleann Pipes

I am afraid though I can not set a date when these will be made available.

I am also going to add a (limited) sfz import ability to the plugin. (coming post version1.0!) This will allow to load any multisample that is available as a set of mono wav samples.

... or another 10% off. (30% off instead of 20) I hope you agree that the true reason why the additional discount can't be higher is that the plugin is so affordable in the first place (7 packets in your currency) That does not leave much room towards the bottom. :-)

regards

Andreas
